English version 'The Sutra of the Buddha Speaking the All Tathagata's Heart Light Empowerment Samantabhadra Bodhisattva Life-Extending Vajra Supreme Dharani' Translated by the Tripiṭaka Śramaṇa Amoghavajra from the Lion Country, bearing the title of Grand Master of the Three Departments, Duke of the State of Su, holding the honorary title of Grand Mentor, posthumously awarded the title of Da Bian Zheng Guang Zhi, with a fief of three thousand households, from the Daxingshan Temple. Thus have I heard. At one time, the Buddha was on the bank of the Ganges River, together with great Bhikṣu Sangha, Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, and Deva-human beings. At that time, in the assembly was Samantabhadra Bodhisattva (Universal Worthy Bodhisattva), abiding in the Tathagata's secret Samadhi (state of meditative consciousness). Arising from Samadhi, he manifested great supernatural powers. All the Buddhas empowered him to proclaim the Vajra Longevity Dharani (Diamond Longevity Dharani), so that all sentient beings might increase their lifespan, be free from untimely and accidental deaths, and also obtain the Vajra lifespan, firm and indestructible, achieving Bodhi and reaching the stage of non-retrogression. At that time, the World-Honored One emitted light from his heart, summoning Buddhas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River from the ten directions of the world, filling the empty space, each emitting light like Indra's net (a net symbolizing interconnectedness). With this light, he illuminated and touched Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, instructing him to proclaim the Sutra of Vajra Longevity. At that time, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva received the heart-seal of all the Buddhas and immediately entered the Vajra Longevity Samaya (Diamond Longevity Vow). From the pores of his body, he emitted light equal in number to countless fine dust particles, pervading the ten directions. In the assembly, there were countless Vajra-wielding gods, who spoke in unison. All the great Bodhisattvas and Mahasattvas helped to prolong life, proclaiming the Dharani to enable beings to obtain Vajra life. At that time, the heart-seal of the Buddhas of the ten directions, as numerous as dust motes, blessed and empowered Samantabhadra Bodhisattva and the Four Heavenly Kings, increasing their Vajra life. Then, the World-Honored One snapped his fingers and praised them, saying, 'You are able to quickly benefit sentient beings, which is excellent!' If there are good men or good women who fear premature death, accidental death, unnatural death, or inauspicious events, they should bathe with fragrant water, put on new and clean clothes, burn incense, and scatter flowers. By reciting my Life-Extending Heart Mantra, they will increase their lifespan. If there are sentient beings suffering from illness who seek longevity and freedom from suffering, they should establish a mandala in a clean house or in a monastery (Galan), invite twenty-one (three times seven) pure Bhikshu monks to recite this Sutra, each reciting it forty-nine times. Additionally, they should recite this Dharani one hundred thousand times, and they will obtain longevity. The sick person will then dream of auspicious realms at night. For this Life-Extending Dharma, one must first paint Samantabhadra Bodhisattva in color, with the appearance of a full-moon-like child, wearing a Five-Buddha crown, holding a Vajra in his right hand, and holding a Vajra bell in his left hand to summon. His keśamālā (hair garland) is loose and relaxed, and he sits on a thousand-petaled lotus flower. Below is a white elephant king with three heads, each trunk coiling around a single-pronged Vajra, and each head having six tusks. The elephant's four feet step on a large Vajra wheel, and below the wheel are five thousand elephants, each carrying a wheel. From the Bodhisattva's body emanate hundreds of precious lights, and outside the light is a pure white moon disc, adorned with various colors.
