English version Thousand-Armed Avalokiteśvara Construction Sequence Ritual Manual No. 1068 Thousand-Armed Avalokiteśvara Construction Sequence Ritual Manual Translated by Tripiṭaka Śūbhākarasiṃha of Central India under Imperial Order The main deity's principal body is large and yellow. It sits in the lotus position (Padmasana) on a great jeweled lotus platform. The lotus has thirty-two petals, with small leaves between each petal, adorned with immeasurable hundreds of thousands of great Mani jewels. The main deity's front crown has three layers. The number of heads and faces is five hundred. On the left and right sides of the main face are two additional faces. The right one is called the Lotus Face (Padma-mukha), and the left one is called the Vajra Face (Vajra-mukha). The right face is blue-green in appearance, and the left one is dark white. The front face represents the Buddha family (Buddha-kula). Because the great being (Mahasattva) has a large body, the complete assembly of the three families (Tri-kula) is present. The Eight Great Bodhisattvas serve as attendants. In front of the great being is the Child-Eyed Heavenly Woman (Bala-netra-devi) holding a lovely flower. There is also a boy holding a scripture-monk's seat, appearing as a seven-year-old child. The third layer has the Twenty-Eight Attendants, each with their original form. Maheśvara-Nārāyaṇa-datta: Blackish-red, with three eyes, appearing wrathful. The crown is adorned with a trident (triśūla), and the necklace is made of vajra jewels. The left hand holds a pestle, and the right hand holds a treasure plate, red inside and black outside. 4. Kimpila-dārakāpila: White-red. The left hand holds a treasure bow, and the right hand holds a treasure arrow. 5. Vāsava-Varuna: White-red. The left hand holds a rope, and the right hand is placed on the hip. 6.
