English version The Great Golden Peacock King Dhāraṇī Sutra, Volume 1 (Name of translator lost, now appended to the Qin record) The Buddha told Ānanda (one of the ten principal disciples of the Buddha): 'In the past, south of Snow Mountain King (Himavanta, the Himalayas), there was a Golden Peacock King. The Buddha resided there. It recited this Great Peacock King Dhāraṇī Sutra in the morning to protect itself, and it was peaceful during the day; it recited it in the evening to protect itself, and it was secure and without worry at night.'
