The Prayer of Kuntuzangpo. The Prayer of Kuntuzangpo. ༄༅། །The Prayer of Glorious Samantabhadra. HOH! All that appears and exists, samsara and nirvana, Is all based on one ground, but with two paths and two results. Awareness and unawareness are the magic of this: Through the prayer of Samantabhadra, May all be perfectly fulfilled in the palace of the Dharmadhatu, And attain enlightenment! The basis of everything is uncompounded, The vast expanse of self-born space, beyond expression. Samsara and nirvana both have no name. Realizing that is Buddhahood; Unaware, sentient beings wander in samsara. May all sentient beings in the three realms Realize the meaning of the inexpressible ground! Samantabhadra, even I, Without cause or condition, am the meaning of the ground. That very ground is the self-born awareness. Without adding imputations of inner or outer, Uncovered by the veil of mindless darkness, Therefore, self-appearance is without fault. In the self-aware state of being present, Even if the three worlds are destroyed, there is no fear. In the absence of duality of appearance and mind, There is no attachment to the five desires. In the self-born, non-conceptual knowing, There is no obstructing form or the five poisons. The clarity of awareness is unceasing, One essence with five wisdoms. From the maturing of the five wisdoms, The five original Buddha families arose. From that, the wisdom expanded without limit, And forty-two Buddhas arose. From the play of the five wisdoms, The sixty wrathful Herukas arose. Therefore, the ground awareness has never been mistaken. Since I am the original Buddha, Through the power of my prayer, May all sentient beings in the three realms of samsara Recognize their self-born awareness, And may the great wisdom expand without limit! My emanations never cease, They spread in hundreds of billions of countless ways, Showing various forms to whomever needs taming. Through the power of my compassionate prayer, May all sentient beings in the three realms of samsara Be liberated from the six realms! In the beginning, when sentient beings are confused, Because awareness has not dawned on the ground, They are mindless and bewildered. That is the cause of unawareness and confusion. From that, they faint in bewilderment, And the fearful awareness turns into agitation. From that, the belief in self and other as enemies arises. As the habitual tendencies gradually increase, They enter the cycle of samsara. From that, the five poisons of affliction increase, And the actions of the five poisons are unceasing. Therefore, the basis of sentient beings' confusion Is the unawareness of mindless forgetting. Through the prayer of me, the Buddha, May all recognize their own awareness! The co-emergent unawareness Is the knowing that is mindless and distracted.

Is. The ignorance of complete imputation is the clinging to the duality of self and other. Both innate and imputational ignorance are the basis of delusion for all sentient beings. By the power of my, the Buddhas', aspiration, may the darkness of unconsciousness and dullness be cleared away for all sentient beings in samsara, May the consciousness of clinging to duality be purified, and may they realize the nature of awareness! The mind of clinging to duality is doubt, from which subtle attachments arise, Habits grow thick and gradually increase, food, wealth, clothing, dwelling, and companions, The five desirable qualities and loving relatives, are tormented by the desire for pleasing attachment. These are the delusions of the world, and the actions of grasping and clinging have no end. When the fruit of attachment ripens, in the hungry ghosts tormented by dryness and thirst, Having been born, how terrible is hunger and thirst! By the power of my, the Buddhas', aspiration, may all sentient beings who are attached and clinging, Not abandon the suffering of desire, nor take back attachment and clinging, By releasing awareness into its own state, may awareness grasp its own nature, And may they attain the wisdom of complete understanding! In the appearance of external objects, subtle changes occur in the consciousness of fear and dread, From the growth of the habit of hatred, arise the violent acts of hostility, beating, and killing. When the fruit of hatred ripens, how terrible is the suffering of being boiled and burned in hell! By the power of my, the Buddhas', aspiration, may all sentient beings of the six realms, When intense hatred arises, not take or reject, but release into its own state, May awareness grasp its own nature, and may they attain the wisdom of clarity! From the swelling of one's own mind, the mind of competition and belittlement towards others arises, From the arising of the mind of intense pride, one experiences the suffering of self-other conflict. When the fruit of that action ripens, one is born as a god who experiences falling and changing. By the power of my, the Buddhas', aspiration, may all sentient beings who have arisen with a mind of pride, At that time, release awareness into its own state, may awareness grasp its own nature, And may they realize the meaning of equality! From the habit of growing duality, the action of praising oneself and disparaging others is painful, From the growth of the mind of conflict and competition, one is born in the realm of killing Asuras. The result falls into the place of hell. By the power of my, the Buddhas', aspiration, may those who have arisen with competition and conflict, Not take as enemies, but release into its own state, may awareness grasp its own nature, And may they attain unobstructed activity wisdom! From unconscious abandonment and distraction, dullness, confusion, forgetfulness, and Fainting, etc.
