Rising as the embodiment of the five Heruka families, male and female. Furthermore, appearing as the fierce and terrifying form of the great black brother and sister, for the purpose of protecting the Buddha's teachings, are the wisdom protectors. Essentially, they emanate from wisdom, manifesting in the manner of arrogant and independent lineages, hearing the Dharma from glorious Heruka and the incarnate Buddha, realizing the truth, and abiding by the commands and vows, they are the protectors accomplished through karma. Arrogant spirits belonging to the self-existing world, possessing power, might, and splendor through the strength of past aspirations and virtuous deeds, were subdued by the victorious vidyadharas of the past, given the vajra samaya, and appointed to protect the teachings, known as worldly protectors. If all are categorized, there are male, female, and neuter lineages, encompassing all who protect the Buddha's teachings within the three lineages, gathered into a single mandala, which is the very essence of the gathered intent of the protectors. This profound and condensed essence was revealed by the son of Padmasambhava, the emanation of the Vinaya holder Chökyi Lodrö, the great tertön Orgyen Chokgyur Dechen Lingpa, who tames beings, from the right side of the door lintel of the upper secret cave of Rongmé Karmo Taktsang Guru, one of the thirteen tiger nests blessed by the wrathful king Cholwa in the auspicious place of arising in Tibet, where he subdued the evil spirits, as part of the five essential cycles of profound Dharma, the empowerment and practice of the heart essence of the gathered intent of the protectors, and so forth. Great Heruka, Supreme Three Jewels, Heroes, Dakinis, and the assembly of Mahakala, I take refuge in you at all times and places. (Recite three times) In order to place all sentient beings in the state of liberation and lasting happiness, to attain complete Buddhahood, for this purpose, temporarily subdue all evil ones and subsequently take them into our care. With the great conduct of Bodhisattvas, to protect the Buddha's teachings, I enter this profound path of skillful means. Generate the mind with this thought and repeat after me: For the benefit of all sentient beings, I will protect the Buddha's teachings, Subdue all demonic enemies, I generate the mind to take them into my care. (Recite three times) In order to purify the mindstream completely, to accumulate merit, with the ten-limbed practice that aligns with the meaning of the words, clearly visualize the Samadhi, and repeat after me: Precious Three Roots, Dharma Protectors, please descend, Sit upon the lotus seat of sun and moon, Body, speech, and mind, I prostrate with reverence, Outer, inner, and secret offerings, I present and offer, I confess and repent, all sins and transgressions, I rejoice in the practice of secret mantras, May the wheel of secret mantra, which ripens and liberates, turn, I request you to remain without passing into Nirvana, May the essence be dedicated for the benefit of sentient beings, May I realize the true meaning, the state of Vajradhara. After that, to cultivate the basis for blessings and empowerment, visualize as follows: From emptiness, in an instant, on a seat of lotus, sun, and Rakshasa, you yourself manifest as glorious Mahakala, with a body of dark blue-black color, fierce and wrathful in appearance. With both hands holding a curved knife and a skull cup, with legs in a posture of stretching and bending, standing in the midst of blazing flames of wisdom, clearly visualize as the form of the Samaya being. In a fierce vessel of Torma, within a triple-layered palace of burning iron from the sky, amidst the turmoil of fire and wind. The Torma manifests as glorious Mahakala, father, mother, sons, retinue, emanated Eight Classes, and the ocean of oath-bound Dharma Protectors, as clear as if seen with your own eyes. From the foreheads of the wisdom Mahakalas, white rays of light radiate, dissolving into your own forehead, receiving the empowerment and blessings of the body.
