A Concise Explanation of the Recitation Manual of Great Compassion, Lord of the World. Written by Changme Dorje. A Concise Explanation of the Recitation Manual of Great Compassion, Lord of the World. Written by Changme Dorje. A Concise Explanation of the Recitation Manual of Great Compassion, Lord of the World. Herein Resides. Namo Lokeshvaraya (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari: नमो लोकेश्वराय, Sanskrit Romanization: Namo Lokeśvarāya, Chinese literal meaning: Homage to the Lord of the World). The wisdom of all Buddhas, Manifesting as Avalokiteśvara, To the face inseparable from the supreme Guru, Having prostrated, I compose this easy-to-enter recitation manual. Here, in practicing the yoga of Great Compassion, Lord of the World, there are three aspects: recitation, practice, and the method of attaining great accomplishment and siddhi. The meaning of recitation is: it is similar to approaching and connecting with the person from whom one needs to accomplish benefit and action. Among these, the first is recitation: In a secluded and agreeable place that is under one's control, sweep and clean. Underneath a clean cloth on the cushion, draw a right-swirling Yungdrung with barley or white rice. In the direction facing oneself, arrange a blessed representation of the body, such as a Thangka. In front of it, on a covered platform, place a round torma of Great Compassion adorned with a silk crest. On the lower sides to the right and left, place tormas for the common and specific protectors, alcohol and meat, etc. In front, place two waters, sensual offerings, etc., arranging as many offerings as possible according to custom. All the necessities for retreat, such as attendants, doctors, and living supplies, should be prepared in accordance with common practice. Having chosen an auspicious time such as the eighth or fifteenth day of the month, or even if not, choosing an auspicious day with good astrological signs, one enters retreat, accumulating merit through various means of gathering and purification as preliminaries. When the evening session of the first day of the actual recitation arrives, instantly visualize oneself as the hero Red Hayagriva, with one face and two arms, holding a vajra chopper and making the threatening mudra. Recite approximately one hundred and eight times the mantra Om Vajra Krodha Haya Griva Hulu Hulu Hum Phat (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari: 嗡 वज्र क्रोध हय ग्रीव हुलु हुलु हुं फट्, Sanskrit Romanization: Oṃ vajra krodha haya grīva hulu hulu hūṃ phaṭ, Chinese literal meaning: Om, Vajra, Wrathful, Horse-Neck, Quickly, Quickly, Hum, Phat), then dedicate a clean torma to the white-sided earth lords, entrusting them with the task of clearing obstacles and accomplishing favorable conditions. Give a red torma to the obstructors, and recite Hum. In this authentic secret mandala. etc., strike with fierce mantras, and dispel with incense, music, etc., with threatening gestures. Place the emblems of the Great Kings in the four directions, not
