The Glance that Clarifies: A Supplementary Guide to the Dream Clear Light Instructions for Purifying the Nature of Ignorance, Buddha Skull Garland, from the Lama's Mind Practice, Union of Essences. Here ends. From the Palace of Great Bliss, Spontaneously Accomplished Clear Light, Buddha Skull Garland, the utterly pure essence of ignorance, To whomever you tame, you show yourself accordingly, Vajradhara Lama, I beseech you, grant the empowerment of the teachings! From the Lama's Mind Practice, Union of Essences, to speak briefly on the supplementary guide to the Dream Clear Light instructions for purifying the nature of ignorance, Buddha Skull Garland: In a secluded place, abandoning offerings of food and the food and clothing, etc., of those who have broken vows and committed sins, performing bathing and cleansing, etc., and practicing, it is taught through three meanings: holding the dream, and developing it in various ways, and transforming it to establish certainty, and training awareness in clear light, and training the unconfused nature of clear light. First, regarding holding the dream: Whatever appears during the day, generate the intention that everything is a dream that needs to be trained. All activities such as eating, drinking, walking, sitting, and conduct should be remembered as having occurred after falling asleep and appearing in a dream. Thinking that self-appearance is empty, rest the mind in its naturally pure state. Furthermore, since this body is also a dream body, it needs to be trained as self-appearance. The method of training oneself to emanate and transform into the various states of the six realms: First, imagine seeing various unbearable and terrifying sufferings of heat and cold in hell, and all of this needs to be transformed into a dream. Meditate on whichever deity you are, such as Buddha Skull Garland, or the four-armed Great Compassionate One, according to the text. At the heart, visualize the syllable (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: 啥) followed by the six-syllable mantra. From that, rays of light radiate, making offerings to the victorious ones. Gather the blessings and dissolve them into yourself. Again, rays of light radiate, striking the sentient beings of hell, causing them all to be free from suffering and fear, and visualize them transforming into great compassion, and train in that. Likewise, in the realms of hungry ghosts, animals, humans, demigods, gods, etc., transform yourself into each of them in the dream.

Having manifested, purify each individual's illusions as before. Hunger, thirst, foolishness, and muteness. Birth, old age, sickness, and death. Strife. Defeat and downfall, etc., all transform into your own great compassion. The methods of purification should be clearly understood as before. Moreover, by practicing in this way continuously during the day, the imprints must awaken when falling asleep at night. Therefore, one must practice diligently during the day, thinking it is a dream. Furthermore, whatever appearances arise now are dreams, so think of transforming them into the chosen deity. Visualize becoming any chosen deity, whether peaceful or wrathful, according to your preference, and practice. Also, thinking that you yourself are a dream, consider what harm you may suffer from any particular demon, and dream of it in that way in the dream. There, transform yourself into a powerful chosen deity who subdues, and having subdued those demons, vow that there will be no harm, and visualize offering your life essence, etc. The method of transforming into a deity is as follows: To subdue the demon of kings, become Kurukulla. To subdue the demon of nagas, become Garuda. To subdue the demon of planets, become Vajrapani. To subdue the demon of women, become Krodheshvari. To subdue all demons, become Hayagriva Black, etc., whichever you prefer, practice as before. You must also practice such things continuously during the day. Furthermore, the transformations are as follows: If you dream of fire in a dream, transform it into water. If you see yourself dwelling in water, transform it into fire. Transform earth into trees, and trees into earth, etc. Think of transforming one element into another and practice. If various forms appear in a dream, transform them into one. If one appears, transform it into many. If you dream of a horse, transform it into an elephant, etc. Think of transforming one into another and practice. Then, since your own appearances are dreams, manifest as self-arisen. Think of circumambulating special places such as Mount Kailash (Gangri), Tsari, etc. Then, think of circumambulating Mount Meru and flying, seeing Jambudvipa, Godaniya, Kuru, Videha, etc., and circumambulating the four continents. Also, since you are the appearance of a dream, think of flying to any of the five Buddha-field realms, such as Sukhavati, according to your preference. Having arrived there, meet Amitabha, etc., whichever Buddha you prefer, prostrate to him, confess your misdeeds, vow to uphold your vows from now on, and offer various offerings manifested from yourself, etc., offer the seven-branch prayer, and empower me.
