Land, mind, and objects are taken as the basis for action. From the initial generation of Bodhicitta to Buddhahood, from the exercise of magical powers to falling into hell, whatever the nature of the three types of thoughts—good, bad, or neutral—they are all accomplished through the interdependent origination of these three factors. Know that all the teachings of the Buddhas of the past, present, and future are solely dependent origination; this is known from abiding in mindfulness. For example, holding a stalk of green barley, asking where this barley came from and what its causes and conditions are, the answer given is dependent origination. This can be traced back to the seeds of habitual tendencies from countless eons ago. In terms of this life, there is an easy-to-understand example: for instance, a year or a month ago, one's father was killed by an enemy, and one harbors strong hatred in one's heart. Later, although the event is forgotten, the hatred lies dormant in the mind. When encountering unpleasant events, if one happens to meet the father's killer, then the former seeds will all be revived, giving rise to intense hatred. As Nagarjuna said: 'Born from habitual tendencies, habitual tendencies are seeds, habitual tendencies accumulate and grow, capable of generating the sprout of samsara.' As for objects, for example, striking anything causing it to die, and then happily saying, 'Alala, killed, thoroughly killed, killed well!' This is a sign of defeat, because one is not ordained. In the Vinaya it says: initially arising anger is called affliction; expressing it through body and speech is called karma; the end of life is called downfall, heavy, defeat. The result is that the ripening fruit of taking life leads to rebirth in hell. Also, for example, someone like Dampa Yapo, troubled by his own illnesses and harms, has faith in the Lama. Wangchuk, by showing great compassion, has him sit behind and tells him that if he practices Shinje Besvata (Tibetan: གཤིན་རྗེ་བེ་སྭ་ཏ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: यम बैस्वता, Sanskrit Romanization: yama baisvata, literal meaning: Yama Baisvata), it will dispel the darkness, but after three days his scalp was peeled off, and it is said that he lives in Churong Maji. If one practices this Dharma for a long time, it will also lead to death, and ultimately one will fall into the outer iron mountain of the heretics. Jowo Thukje Chenpo's great compassion is not an ordinary great compassion, but it is due to the aspiration of the past and the interdependent origination of mantra and vidyā that such a result occurs. Therefore, from his lineage, one can be liberated from diseases such as leprosy, smallpox, swelling, fever, dryness, etc., as well as from demons, the demons of gods, the demons of nagas, etc., and from the eight fears such as fire, water, etc. This is what is said in the scriptures.

This is the greatness of the assembly of dependent arising, because during this time no bad things will happen. Furthermore, it is good to generate the perception of the guru as a Buddha, and the guru himself thinks so, but if there is such a certainty, then one will become like that. Because there is no separation between oneself and the guru, the suchness of the guru and the suchness of oneself, and the suchness of all phenomena of samsara and nirvana are without separation, becoming one. Even in a distant place, it is permissible to carry the guru, and this also arises from the dependent arising of the three assemblies. Therefore, if one does not understand such dependent arising, like the asceticism of non-Buddhists, one will not generate merit by staying in one place for ten years. If one generates the perception of the guru as a Buddha, it is good. If one offers whatever things one has done to the guru and makes a dedication, then one will generate certain knowledge on that very day. If one or two such things happen, by making a dedication, one will immediately attain visible phenomena. Then, through that connection, through that power, one will go on without interruption. Furthermore, if someone says that the guru is a Bodhisattva and then takes food and wealth, one will be hit on the head with a stick. If one speaks bad words and harsh words, one will be scolded. If someone says the guru is a Bodhisattva, one will say such things. If someone says there is no attachment and does not give, even if a devoted person has no attachment, if one does not give oneself, one will be used as an excuse to break one's head. If someone says to practice Mahamudra, this itself is the view of the aggregates of destruction. If one says that desire and grasping are all Mahamudra, then that is leading astray in the wrong way, it is the "Apa instructions." The secret of the guru's body, speech, and mind lies in this, all of this is seen in that way because of one's own capacity, there is nothing else. Therefore, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas see the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, also because of their own capacity they see them in that way, there is nothing else. Therefore, one should visualize the guru as a Buddha, and the Sangha as a Buddha or Dharmakaya or free from elaboration or dependent arising or suchness. If one thinks it is not so, then what are these Sangha, are they permanent or impermanent? Like an ox. It is said that in India, all the non-Buddhists, for this reason, say it is permanent, or they say it is impermanent, each has its own attachment in their minds. The great Madhyamikas of Tibet
