And so on, it is knowledge. Just as the Sutra masters establish that the mind, how it becomes the aspect of an object such as blue, that mind completely knows the object such as blue. When the ultimate is of the nature of non-arising, and the mind of the yogi possessing the object also becomes of the nature of being free from arising and ceasing, then the mind follows the aspect of the object's non-arising, and thus the yogi's mind realizes the ultimate of the object's non-arising, this is established based on the conventional truth. In reality, when a yogi realizes the ultimate, it is not that someone realizes someone, because both the knower and the known are unborn. If at that time there is some knower with or without conceptualization, then the known must also exist, because no knower without a known has been seen. In that way, the elaboration of the knower and the known is not pacified. Like the state of a child, conceptualization will not cease. Even so, the Tathagata still has the wisdom of knowing the suchness and the extent of suchness in name, because by relying on the accumulation of wisdom practiced for many eons, immeasurable qualities such as strength and fearlessness arise. Those qualities such as strength are also merely conceptually imputed, because they are dependent arising, like illusion and so on. Whatever is merely conceptually imputed does not exist without conceptualization, just as the imputation of demons and snakes on drawings and ropes does not occur without conceptualization. When a yogi completely and perfectly awakens to all dharmas in all aspects, then all conceptualizations cease, and the conceptualizations of qualities such as strength also cease. If these qualities are merely conceptually imputed, then why do not all beings generate conceptualizations possessing qualities such as strength? If it is said that these qualities do not depend on causes and conditions, but are merely imputed by conceptualization at will, then that is true. These qualities are the result of long-term habituation to the accumulation of wisdom.

Because it is considered to arise from specific causes and conditions, there is no fault. If it is said that things arising from causes and conditions are established by their own nature, so mere examination is unreasonable, it is not so. If it were established by its own nature, it should not depend on causes and conditions, because its own essence is already established as dependent on others. The scriptures also say: 'Self-nature is uncreated and does not depend on others.' Therefore, those who say that the Tathagata has self-sustaining wisdom with its own characteristics, and others who say that the Tathagata has no wisdom at all, like in states of sleep and fainting, both fall into the extremes of exaggeration and denigration, and therefore do not correctly understand the qualities of the Tathagata. We believe that the qualities possessed by the Tathagata, as described in the sutras, and acknowledge them in the manner of dependent origination, so we do not fall into any extreme of exaggeration or denigration, because for those who speak of dependent origination, even in conventional terms, there is no assertion that falls into the extreme of being subject to others' criticisms, as has been said before. Therefore, the scriptures also say: 'The four, such as permanence and impermanence, where are they in peace? The four, such as end and endlessness, where are they in peace?' This is what is being said. We do not merely acknowledge the qualities of the Tathagata in this way, but we acknowledge all phenomena encompassed by defilement and purification as dependent origination, liberated from all extremes even in conventional terms, and as the nature of mere causes and conditions. However, if even the great charioteers of the noble lands have not understood this way, how can these blind beings of the snowy lands become objects of their wisdom? Second, refuting the view that it is unreasonable to show Suchness to the world: Although it is true that when a yogi directly realizes the Dharmakaya, the activities of mind and mental factors are nearly pacified, even so, it is not impossible to show Suchness to the world, like this: His Sambhogakaya, the body of perfect enjoyment, through merit...
