In general, whether the key points of Dharma practice are correct or incorrect depends on whether the view aligns with any of the four philosophical schools and whether the conduct aligns with any of the three vehicles. If they do, it is not incorrect; otherwise, even if it seems profound, it is mistaken. In this regard, your mind, the union of emptiness and awareness, the basis free from the four extremes of elaboration, and settling the mind in accordance with the view that is free from acceptance or rejection, is meditation. Engaging in acceptance and rejection of good and bad as if in a magical illusion is conduct. The blending of the basis and the path into one, the transformation of the basis into the fruit of mind, is what is meant here. If, in accordance with the philosophical schools, those of superior faculties practice this, it is the Yogācāra-Madhyamaka system. If those of middling faculties practice it, it is the Mind-Only school. If those of inferior faculties believe that liberation comes from recognizing the individual (Skt. pudgala) of awareness that is free from grasping at subject and object, it is the system of abiding. There is a danger of straying into the system of the Chinese Heshang, who consider meditation to be conceptual mental activity and regard it as the yoga of the Perfection of Wisdom. Therefore, even among the great masters of the past, Jetsün Milarepa and his son were Yogācāra-Madhyamakas. Some of their followers seemed to hold the view of the false-aspectarians of Mind-Only, while others seemed to hold the view of the true-aspectarians. Chöjé Sakya Paṇḍita said, \"Fools who meditate on the Great Seal will mostly be reborn as animals.\" This refers to ordinary practitioners of Mahāmudrā. Therefore, it is crucial to examine and scrutinize a lama who possesses experience, realization, and learning. Nowadays, many people grasp at a mere semblance of mental quiescence and a vague experience as meditation, and then claim to have cut through all attachments, but they do not cut through anything at all. Furthermore, when in meditative equipoise, some say that the coarse grasping has ceased and that there is an awareness that is clear, empty, and blissful. This is a good experience of śamatha (calm abiding). But to boast of vipassanā (insight), one cannot do without this. However, this alone is not enough. Nowadays, people introduce clarity as vipassanā and abiding as śamatha, claiming that this is the path of the Great Seal, the union of śamatha and vipassanā, and so on. But there is no vipassanā in this. Clarity cannot replace vipassanā. For the cause of vipassanā, one must have a pure view gained through hearing and thinking that cuts through all conceptual elaborations regarding emptiness. Then, mounting that view upon the good horse of śamatha and continuously maintaining it with mindfulness and awareness, one will increase the power of experience of the true nature."

Excellent insight wisdom that cuts off superimpositions will arise. Merely calming the head of afflictions, because the seeds are not abandoned, one cannot go on the path to liberation. As it is said in the Samadhiraja Sutra: "Worldly people meditate on samadhi, but they cannot destroy the notion of self with it. Afflictions arise again and again from it. With the practice of higher vision, one meditates on samadhi here." Therefore, the samadhi endowed with insight that realizes emptiness goes on the path. Again, in the same Sutra, it says: "If one realizes the selflessness of phenomena individually, if one meditates on realizing it individually, the result is the attainment of nirvana. It cannot be attained by other causes." And in the Madhyamakalankara, it says: "When a wise person contemplates the selflessness of phenomena, when he meditates on the absence of inherent existence, he eliminates without exception the afflictions and obscurations that arise from perversion." Therefore, having attained the abiding of the mind through calm abiding, one must strive to cultivate the meditation that generates the wisdom of insight. The cause of insight is the pure view that cuts off superimpositions on the way things are. The cause of that is to rely on a wise lama and to cut off superimpositions by hearing and thinking about the profound sutras and tantras. Furthermore, in the post-meditation state, if one guards all phenomena of appearance and sound as being like illusions through mindfulness, then it is said that it is like cutting off the life force with the sword of realization of Bunlong, which is very effective on the path. At that time, the mindfulness of being like an illusion is itself insight, so it is very important to continuously cultivate that mindfulness without interruption by other thoughts until the sharpness of calm abiding has not faded. Nowadays, many people who practice the profound path say that such practice is conceptual meditation and has no essence, because they have not understood the key point of insight. For ordinary beings, calm abiding arises without concepts, but insight arises with concepts. By becoming accustomed to this conceptual insight, ultimately the non-conceptual wisdom of the noble path will arise. Furthermore, Chöje Sakya does not accept the fourth empowerment of the example Mahamudra, but considers the wisdom of the third empowerment to be the example Mahamudra, and the wisdom of the fourth empowerment to be the actual Mahamudra. Kalachakra considers the generation stage of the empty form body with all supreme aspects to be the completion stage, and Guhyasamaja does not consider the conventional illusory body to be the generation stage. If both are done as the completion stage, then again,
