Having sent the gilded letter, they departed. On the shore of Nepal, beyond India, they met the great Uḍḍiyāna, Padmasambhava himself. They presented the king's message and gifts into his hands. The seven attendants were sent ahead to Samye. The great Uḍḍiyāna manifested in the sky and stayed in Mangyul Gungtang for three months. He hid a wish-fulfilling treasure in a cave. The Tibetan king Trisong Detsen sent Kawa Paltseg, Dorje Dudjom, and Jokro Luyi Gyaltsen, adorned with gold, to travel day and night. The teachers and protectors urged them to uphold their vows. The three messengers, exhausted and afflicted, requested to go only as far as Mangyul Gungtang. Having met him, knowing full well, he asked, "Who are you?" "We are the ones who invite the Tibetan abbot," they said, prostrated, and offered a pot of gold. "Is this the offering of King Pratāpa of Purī?" he said, scattering it towards Mangyul and Nepal. Feeling compassion, the teacher said, "Bring bags and fill them with earth and gravel." Each went back and opened them to see gold, silver, turquoise, and various jewels.
