His hair is as beautiful and dark as the petals of a blue lotus, his forehead as broad as the full moon. His eyes are large and long, dark and bright like stars in the east. His eyebrows are like a great garuda soaring in the sky. His eyelashes are well-formed, like the outstretched wings of a garuda. His ears are like open lotus blossoms. His nose is well-shaped and beautiful to behold. His lips are exquisitely beautiful, like the stamens of a lotus. His tongue is long, thin, soft, and red like the color of a lotus. His teeth are white and well-aligned, like the color of conch shells and snow mountains. Fifty-eight teeth adorn his face. Seeing his peaceful face brings joy like the gods of Osko. His voice is like the Brahma sound of a kalaviṅka bird. His face is long, like the gall bladder of a black bear. His complexion is like a conch shell painted with red dye. His neck is well-formed, like the throat of a vase. His upper body is like a lion in its prime. The tops of his arms are round, and his shoulders and limbs are well-developed. His fingers and toes are connected by webs. The color of his nails is like the light of red copper and crystal. His navel is beautiful, like the bud of a lotus. His buttocks are like those of a deer, and his feet are well-formed. He can fly through the sky like a rainbow. His secret place is hidden like that of a horse or bull. His body is like that of a newly born youth, with well-developed limbs. His face is smiling, pure, and beautiful. One never tires of looking at his form, and all who see him rejoice. Rays of light blaze forth, like a halo. His taste is supreme, smooth, sacred, and most excellent. He is indestructible, like a vajra, and without leakage. These qualities are the auspicious signs of Padmasambhava. The thirty-two marks are praised on the body of the prince. With this, I offer respectful praise and prostrate many times. He showed his joyful face and spoke to me thus: The source of outer suffering is merely a sign of conformity. Some identify the present enemy as the enemy. Otherwise, the enemy refers to the three poisons of greed, hatred, and delusion. He said that the present enemy can easily be turned into a friend. Identify friends as present friends. True friendship is a qualified lama. He shows the path of benefit and turns away from the path of harm. Treat present friends with compassion. Learn everything that should be learned and abandon everything that should be abandoned. Recount many bad examples and abandon samsara. Searching for what does not exist only increases suffering. This does not refer to wealth and possessions, because present wealth and possessions can be found even if sought. The seven noble riches cannot be found by searching. Protecting what exists is not enough, and this is suffering. The present retinue does not refer to wealth, but to the Buddha.
