The Chapter on Demonstrating the Authenticity of the Indian Origin of Dharma The Chapter on Demonstrating the Authenticity of the Indian Origin of Dharma Thereafter, in order to subdue the realm of Shakyamuni Buddha and the realms of the three protectors, especially the land of Tibet with its ghosts and uncivilized places, and the kingdom of animals, the descendants of monkeys, to place them in the Dharma, the account of his life is as follows: When Shakyamuni Buddha was eighty years old, he initiated the three turnings of the wheel of Dharma in a gradual manner, as well as the four classes of tantras, outer and inner. The generation and completion stages of the unsurpassable Vajrayana, not even a single word of these categories of Dharma was spoken. Later, it was prophesied in future prophecies. Why is that? Because the view, conduct, union, and liberation are all very profound, in order to enjoy the qualities of the five desires, because the foundation of the teachings is the Sangha. In one place, the Vajra Seat of India, two teachers will not appear for one teaching. If they do, it is impossible, and it contradicts the teachings of the Sutras and Tantras. Similarly, two Chakravartin kings will not appear. If they do, they will be robbers of the teachings, red-handed perpetrators. They are the hail of the teachings and should be greatly abandoned by future generations. Similarly, the Tathagata, who is like a god, the unparalleled supreme among humans, Padmasambhava, is said in the Sutras and Tantras to be the son of the Buddha. In the Sutra of Prophecies in Central Tibet, it says: "From now, forty-two years from now, on the island of Dhanakosha, on a naturally born lotus, there will appear one called Padmasambhava, he will be the master of the secret mantra teachings." And, in the Tantra of the Union of the Ultimate Meaning, it says: "From my Nirvana, after twelve years have passed, the supreme one who conquers all the worlds, I myself will appear in the land of Oddiyana." And, in the Tantra of the Union of the Ultimate Meaning, it says: "From my Nirvana, after twelve years have passed, the supreme one who conquers all the worlds, I myself will appear in the land of Oddiyana, called Padmasambhava, he will prophesy the secret mantra teachings." And, in the Root Tantra of the Gathering of Teachings, it also says: "The great glorious one, inseparable from me, called Lotus-Born Vajra, now one similar to me will appear. He will widely teach this vehicle of the Gathering of Teachings in the land of Zahor to King Tsuglag Dzin and others." Thus it is said. In the Nirvana Sutra, it says: "Between the two supreme roots of the Sala tree

Then, the Blessed One, except for Light Protector and his younger brother Delight, surrounded by ten hundred thousand of the monastic community of monks, spoke to the great close attendants Katyayana, Chunda, and Ananda: "I shall completely pass into nirvana. Do not grieve. In the center of a radiant, stainless lake, a being superior to me will arise. Do not weep. Even if you could live for countless years, you must ultimately know that you will die." Thus he spoke. He spoke very truthfully and without falsehood. As the Sutra says, he is known as the Victorious Shakyamuni. As the Mantra says, he is named Guru Padmasambhava. Although there are many ways in which he manifests, the way he is born in this realm is as follows: There are nine great continents in India. In the center is the Vajrasana, the dwelling place of Shakyamuni. To its east is the continent of Bengal. To the south is the continent called Videha. To the west is the continent of Oddiyana. To the north is the continent of Kashmir. To the southeast is the continent of Zahor. To the southwest is the continent of Khambu. To the northwest is the continent called Copper. To the northeast is the continent of Kamarupa. The people of these nine continents are of different races. Some are large, some are small. Some are incomparably marvelous, some are ugly. In each continent, the languages are different. There are three hundred and sixty different languages. There are three hundred and sixty different scripts. For example, there is what is called the Eastern language of India, and similarly there are the Southern, Western, and Northern languages. Other continents should be understood in the same way. The clothes are cotton, and the food is rice, which is generally the same. The customs are different in terms of body decoration and how they are worn. In each continent, there are many kings. There is a king who governs the country, and there is a Dharma king who promotes the Dharma. The king who governs the country does not interfere with the Dharma. The Dharma king who promotes the Dharma does not interfere with politics. The laws of India are very strict. One cannot casually engage in work that is not of one's own race. One who sees the truth through the Dharma of characteristics is called a sage. One who sees the truth through the Dharma of secret mantras is called an accomplished one. One who has a round head, bare feet, wears robes, abandons the ten non-virtuous actions, and acts carefully is called a Sangha. Wearing braided hair, eight kinds of clothing, and six kinds of ornaments,
