It is said: Rabtsal said, "This is a good omen for my son." It is said, "My son will obtain the kingdom of the king." Then, the king gathered the government officials and the people, and held a grand selection ceremony for the two princes. After the Brahmin astrologer divined for the princes, he named Rabtsal's son Thorchokchen. He named Thorchuk's son Shantarakshita. The ministers asked the king what should be done, and a person with a handsome face and tall stature said, "Let this person be the king." Therefore, Thorchokchen was enthroned, and Shantarakshita was placed in the border area. After that, Shanta did not obtain the kingdom, and in everything, he and the other person were equal. He thought, "He is the king, and I am a commoner. Such a thing should not happen." So, he caused damage to the royal family, was punished, and was exiled to the border area. After that, in the west of Bodh Gaya in India, there is a large cemetery called Sosa Ling, which is one yojana in circumference. In the center of that place, there is a self-arisen stupa, wide and deep, with a wheel, umbrella, and so on. The material is made of precious silver, decorated with bells and a semi-netted bell network, and adorned with the sun and moon. There, there are eight self-arisen Krema goddesses. In the northeast of that place, there is a lake called Muntang, in which there are crocodiles and other creatures. It is surrounded by various kinds of rocks. In the southwest of that place, there is a shrine to the worldly deity called Nyagrodha, which is a forest of trees. Above it, there is a black cemetery bird's nest, and around the waist, there is a black poisonous snake's nest, and at the root, there is a black cemetery pig's nest. The worldly deity is called Gaje Zhondu, with the face of a lion, four hands holding a sword, a human head, a stake, and a trident with a corpse hanging on it. The body is adorned with a garland of skulls, and the body is dressed in a blue and brown silk robe. Surrounded by hundreds of thousands of killing mothers, they ride elephants and are fond of flesh and blood. There, there are countless assemblies of dakinis, some riding lions with their hair disheveled, waving flags of nine-tiered skulls in their hands; some riding flocks of birds, making loud noises, waving flags of lions in their hands; some with one body and ten faces, eating hearts and livers; some black-skinned women with disheveled hair; dogs and wolves emerge from their mouths; some with human bodies and wings as wide as the sky, causing iron hail to fall; in their hands, they hold tiger flags.

Some separate the upper and lower parts of their bodies; some cut off their limbs and scatter them in all four directions and intermediate points. Thus, they display various kinds of magical powers; countless magical powers cannot be exhausted by words. There are cemetery birds, cemetery pigs, poisonous snakes, and many jackals of different colors, as well as jackals, Kalikas, and so on, countless new and old corpses, and an ocean of flesh, bones, and blood (34a), as well as dry human heads and rotten old things. Some wild animals gnaw at corpses, some devour them, some run, some howl, some gouge out eyes, some grab feet, gnawing bones, eating flesh, pulling intestines. In that extremely terrifying and hair-raising cemetery, Śāntarakṣita went, holding a bow and arrow made of light, killing males and enjoying females, surrounded by a retinue of ḍākinīs, guarding samādhi, and residing for one hundred and ninety years. Then, he intended to subdue the kingdom of Sprin ldan, and from the assembled body, he vanished without remainder like a rainbow.
