Instructions on the Vows of Mind Training. Instructions on the Vows of Mind Training. Sixth, the instructions on the vows of mind training are: Always train in the three general meanings. That is: mind training does not contradict vows, mind training does not become a formality, and mind training is not biased. First, we are mind trainers, saying "this will not harm anyone," and neglecting subtle precepts, not respecting cause and effect; or saying "with this mind training, nothing else is needed," and violating common practices, all of these must be abandoned. Train the mind with thought, and guard purely whatever vows and commitments there are from the Jataka to the Vajrayana with action. Actions and temporary liberation should be in accordance with the scriptures and can be corrected. Second, sleeping in unclean places, cutting down unclean trees, going to places with infectious diseases, and avoiding all bad behaviors such as associating with those who have broken vows and lepers, etc., who are possessed by ghosts, Geshe Tonpa established a great tradition in Radreng, which should not contradict the way of liberation of the Kadampa, and should be practiced like a square. Shapawo said: "Basically, wealth is a common thing, if practice becomes a formality, then it is wrong." Avoid mixing with those who have broken vows, libertines, and all sinners, and do not let all behaviors become a formality. Third, some people can tolerate harm from humans, but cannot tolerate harm from non-humans, because they are too attached to ghosts, and vice versa. Some people respect people of high status, but despise people of low status. Some people love their own family, but hate outsiders. Some people tame sentient beings, but do not tame spirits. These are all one-sided, so all beings should be tamed without bias. Change intentions and maintain nature. Practice exchanging self and others with thought, remember the yoga that is inseparable for a moment, and maintain the behavior of body and speech with action without changing from before, do not show off to others, be able to associate with others, maintain the previous good deeds and behaviors, and do not change from before. Some people listen to the Dharma, abandon their previous ways of liberation and practice, and associate with new people, abandoning the previous ways is very bad.

It is said that one should make a small explicit name but a large definitive statement of meaning. Therefore, one should ripen the mindstream without others noticing. Do not speak of impaired limbs. It says that one should abandon speaking of worldly faults, such as 'this should be done' and 'that should be done,' and religious faults, such as 'this is immoral' and 'that is immoral,' to anyone. Do not think of any other aspects. In general, all sentient beings need it, especially those who have entered the door of Dharma, and especially one should not examine the faults of one's Dharma friends. Even if one is training one's mind, one should be happy to return, thinking, 'In general, it is impossible to associate with this person.' Even if one thinks this way, since one is training one's mind from one's own side, it is not right to think of faults from the other's side. If one involuntarily sees faults, it is because one's own perception is impure. He has no faults. One should think that all sentient beings have the essence of Buddha-nature and examine one's own faults. Abandon all hope for results. By training the mind, one should abandon all hope of being respected by people in this life, of receiving offerings and fame, of benefiting from the harm of non-humans, of future happiness of gods and humans, and of attaining liberation for oneself. Finally, one should train without any hope of attaining Buddhahood for oneself. Do not be impatient or have great expectations for the qualities of practice. If the demon knows, it will create obstacles. Even if one makes strong efforts and perseveres for a long time, one should not be discouraged if no results are achieved. Abandon poisonous food. This means not to regard self-grasping as an enemy, not to abandon cherishing oneself, to keep one's own interests deep in one's heart, and to abandon doing any Dharma with the thought of grasping things as true, because it causes samsara and binds one to samsara, thus creating suffering, like poisonous food. Do not rely on good scriptures. This means abandoning the act of holding grudges and remaining silent when others have done something unreasonable. Do not make bad jokes. This means that no matter what work is assigned, do not make bad jokes that pierce the hearts of others and go against one's own wishes. Do not speak bad words to anyone, whether close or distant, good or bad, whether answering or not. One should also abandon harsh and violent speech. Do not dig pitfalls, which means keeping the harm done by others in mind and waiting for an opportunity to retaliate.
