Collection of Instructions by Omniscient Pema Karpo PK293: Instructions on the Practice of Unifying the Six Tastes 24-23 Instructions on the Practice of Unifying the Six Tastes Homage to the venerable Lamas. Residing in the cave of unwavering Samadhi, Arrogant with the skill of the five faces of supreme wisdom, Taming the herds of elephants of clinging to reality, I pay homage to the feet of the glorious Drukpa. Here, concerning the unification of Mahamudra of Equal Taste, this explanation will be given in terms of 'the path of liberation' or 'the six tastes in threes'. 24-24 It consists of two parts: the history of the lineage and the instructions. First is the lineage prayer, and second is the preliminary and the main practice. First, liberate all sentient beings from the prison of Samsara and establish them in unsurpassed Bodhi. For that purpose, I will meditate on this profound and ultimate instruction on unifying the elements of equal taste. With this in mind, rest the body in a comfortable posture. Visualize yourself as Jetsun Dorje Naljorma (Vajrayogini). Visualize the lineage Lamas above your crown. Recite the prayer of unifying the tastes. Finally, dissolve the light into yourself. Then, reverse the movement of the mind towards objects, and rest in the natural state of mind. The main practice includes: First, the instruction on transforming negative thoughts into the path, and taking bad omens as support. Second, concerning the six cycles. First, the instruction on transforming negative thoughts into the path, and taking bad omens as support, includes three parts: the preliminary of abandoning desire, the main practice of resting in emptiness, and the subsequent practice of unifying the tastes. First, generally, conceptual thoughts are the root of wandering in Samsara, so people do not want them to arise and try to abandon them. However, if you do not know how to transform conceptual thoughts into the path, clinging to abandoning them, you will not be able to realize the path. Therefore, you must reverse the general approach and practice the meditation of transformation, so that appearance, sound, and awareness arise equally in self-awareness, which is unifying the tastes. 24-25 For this practice, the more conceptual thoughts there are, the more the power of wisdom will increase, like fire meeting wood. Therefore, when conceptual thoughts arise, you should be happy. Secondly, when conceptual thoughts arise, if you recognize them immediately, they will be naturally liberated, because this can turn ignorance into wisdom. If you do not recognize them immediately, they will become ignorance. The former is transforming conceptual thoughts into support, and there is no other way. Without conceptual thoughts, there is no distinction between what needs to be abandoned and what needs to be remedied. Samsara and Nirvana are equal, and conceptual thought is the Dharmakaya. Therefore, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- དུས་རིག་པ་

The Timing Similarly, it only occurs when the mind is able to abide in its own state, and not otherwise. Therefore, it is said in the Prophecy of Intentions: 'The initial mind is quiescence, like immovability and so on in order, seeing is superior seeing.' Therefore, the quiescence and insight mentioned here refer to this. Therefore, it is the root of Gampopa's practice. The third is, having recognized that the knowing object and the known consciousness are inseparable, it is equality. Like pouring water into water. If thoughts are not scattered, then guard without scattering in non-fabrication. If scattered, do not let thoughts go through a double process, but recognize it at the moment of arising. 24-26 Transforming Afflictions into the Path, Turning Poison into Nectar Transforming afflictions into the path, turning poison into nectar also has three aspects, the first is to generate desire: Let afflictions arise! Shake! Be dominated by afflictions! This uncommon practice should be done. The second is the main practice of abiding in emptiness: If the root and near afflictions are summarized, they can be summarized into five afflictions. For example, the affliction of ignorance, when sleeping, abide in sleep, without distraction, then the stages of sleep will naturally liberate, and the base luminosity can be recognized, this is what should be practiced. As it is said: 'By this, settle the mind in the previous habits, enter into the light.' So it is said. For example, the affliction of desire, at the last moment of fainting when attached to the ten objects, recognizing the nature of desire, there will be no fainting, that itself is great bliss self-awareness. Do like this. Like hatred, when hating, recognizing the nature of hatred, the light will be greater. Therefore, for those who are manifest, both deliverance and guidance are possible. By analogy, the same applies to pride and jealousy. The third is, in this way, the moment the nature of affliction is emptiness, it is naturally liberated, therefore afflictions are called wisdom. 24-27 Transforming Gods and Demons into the Path, Gathering Obstacles into the Accomplishment of Siddhi Transforming gods and demons into the path, gathering obstacles into the accomplishment of Siddhi has three aspects, the first is: whether going or staying in a solitary place, or a secret practice place, in short, any place that is frightening and creepy. Do not worry about obstacles happening, if they happen, generate joy, because obstacles are the guides to accomplishment. The second is: in those places, if the illusions and obstacles of gods and demons appear, and you feel fear, is it physical fear or mental fear? If it is physical fear, then visualize the body as a ransom for all beings. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
