Collection of Teachings by Omniscient Pema Karpo PK292: The Root Verses of the Six Tastes Alike by Tipu. The Root Verses of the Six Tastes Alike by Tipu. The Root Verses of the Six Tastes Alike by Tipu. In Sanskrit: Guḍāmantradharmaṣaṭanāma. In Tibetan: Secret Mantra Six Dharmas. Homage to glorious Hevajra! Vajradhara (Offering and Praise): To the great Lamas, and the joyful Vajra five families, together with the consorts, heroes, heroines, yogic masters, and all those of similar lineage, I respectfully follow with devotion. (Pledge to explain) Taking the path of realization, the essence of the six roots of equal taste. The teachers (Naropa, Maitripa), etc., spoken in all the tantras of the Sutras (Guhyasamaja, Chakrasamvara, Sambhuta, and Hevajra), I will concisely write down the precious essence without error. (General statement) Taking conceptual thoughts, afflictions, spirits, diseases, obstacles, Bodhicitta, and Bardo as the path, there are six roots, which are spoken of as six sixes, thirty-six. When expanded, they become one hundred and eight. Therefore, first, the six root paths are taught. (Extensive explanation starts from taking conceptual thoughts as the path) In the nature of primordial emptiness, suddenly the conceptual thoughts of self-grasping arise, and eighty natures such as ignorance arise. Desires and other afflictions ripen into eighty thousand. Causes and conditions gather, falling into the endless ocean of samsara, increasing suffering, and repeatedly wandering in the six realms. Sentient beings act differently according to their karma. Therefore, one should diligently rely on the lotus feet of Vajradhara, and out of fear of the suffering of samsara, diligently accumulate merit and purify obscurations. The great ignorance of conceptual thought torments beings in the ocean of samsara for immeasurable time. If one attains the supreme Samadhi of non-conceptualization, one will not abide in samsara and attain Nirvana. Relying on conceptual thought, seek the Samadhi of non-conceptualization. With and without conceptual thought, practice Shamatha and Vipassana. If one understands the union of the two, one can be liberated from it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Liberation! (Meaning of mind-essence) Not realizing the mind-essence, illusions (various) arise from conceptualization. (Mind-essence is unborn) Conceptualization that realizes it transforms into pure Dharmakaya (法身, Dharma Body). Desire, hatred, delusion, and stinginess, jealousy, pride: these are attachment, mental confusion, and ignorance. Clinging, slandering, great ego: these lead to rebirth in the realms of hungry ghosts, hell, animals, and Asuras (阿修罗, demigods). Without attachment, hatred, delusion, there is no stinginess, no pride, liberation from anger. Possessing a loving heart and wisdom, enjoying abundance, respected by all. The nature of afflictions is liberation. Entering the eighth Bhumi (八地, eighth level of Bodhisattva), one attains the path of mantra. Knowing the five poisons as the five wisdoms, if one relies on them with skillful means, one is not bound but attains liberation. This practice of reversal is not known by Buddhas or non-Buddhists (others). If the root of hope and fear is not severed, one speaks endlessly of benefit, harm, gods, and demons. Various thoughts, such as gods, demons, and the eight classes, show various auspicious and inauspicious miracles. Pleasing experiences are mistaken for one's own deity, and inauspicious signs and fierce faces cause fear. Attachment to false phenomena, terrifying omens, lead to thoughts of fear, madness, killing, and cutting, destroying the unborn meditation. Non-dharmic actions cause much harm and lead to misfortune in this life, going astray. Therefore, cut off attachment to hope and fear. In the mandala of emptiness and compassion, visualize oneself as the wisdom Heruka (嘿噜嘎, wrathful deity), blazing with fearless dance, consuming thoughts and hopes as food. At night, walk naked in the charnel ground; during the day, enjoy the five poisons and sensual pleasures. Diseases arising from the three poisons are disturbances of wind, bile, and phlegm. Bad habits and environmental factors, sudden events and wrong diet, karma, epidemics, and diseases caused by gods and demons are all caused by past karma and afflictions. Identify diseases through seasons, times, age, and the time and location of the onset of the disease, through hot and cold foods, facial features, and racial differences. Diagnose diseases through smell, color, touch, and factors such as hope and fear. Through the wheel of illusion, visualizing forms, and the union of channels, winds, and bindus (明点, subtle energy drops), through deities, mantras, and dependent origination, through reversal, meditation, using poison as medicine, and emptiness, compassion, and Bodhicitta (菩提心, mind of enlightenment), treat everything with gratitude. View all sentient beings in the three realms as parents, and help the suffering beings in the six realms. At this moment, have shame and embarrassment, generate Bodhicitta, take vows, and benefit beings directly or indirectly, as the Buddhas of the past did. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
