The Method of Offering Sixty-Four Torma According to the Practice of the Sakyas The Method of Offering Sixty-Four Torma According to the Practice of the Sakyas Nomenclature Recitation Method The Method of Offering Sixty-Four Torma According to the Practice of the Sakyas. Siddham! Om Svasti Siddham! The sixty-four daily tormas that the Sakya masters constantly practice are performed in accordance with eliminating sixty-four kinds of obstacles and accomplishing favorable conditions. As it is said in the translation: 'Each year or each month, or even each day, offer sixty-four tormas, know them as the sixty-four obstacles.' If it is not accomplished in one day, then do it in one month; if it is not accomplished in one month, then by all means do it in one year. The ritual for that is: from Akaro (Tibetan: ཨ་ཀ་རོ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अकारो, Sanskrit Romanization: akaro, Chinese literal meaning: A-syllable) to Yatha, offering to all sentient beings of the six realms from the Buddha to Mata. It is divided into sixteen groups, with four offerings in each group. Then offer to Hevajra, then offer the general torma to the Dakinis, then offer to the general Bhutas, then offer to the ten Direction Guardians. These two should be done according to the tradition of Pungzang. There are twenty-seven tormas for the night. First, three are offered to Bhagavan Achala (Immovable One), then three to Jetsunma Tara (Noble Savioress), then one with the twenty-one dharanis of Ekajati (One-Braided Mother) is offered to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, then one with Akaro (Tibetan: ཨ་ཀ་རོ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अकारो, Sanskrit Romanization: akaro, Chinese literal meaning: A-syllable) is offered to one's own Dharma Protector, then one with Akaro (Tibetan: ཨ་ཀ་རོ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अकारो, Sanskrit Romanization: akaro, Chinese literal meaning: A-syllable) is offered to the general Dharma Protectors, then three are offered to the Deva Rishis (Divine Sages). From here on, five groups of three are offered to Ekajati (One-Braided Mother). Then three are offered to the Sahaja Deva (Co-emergent Deity), then nine are offered to the Vetala (Corpse Demons), then one of the three is offered to the Vetala (Corpse Demons), Bur du Lhags. These three begin with Akaro (Tibetan: ཨ་ཀ་རོ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अकारो, Sanskrit Romanization: akaro, Chinese literal meaning: A-syllable) and make a wish. One is offered to the powerless ones, and one is given to the ground owners. Then, give water offerings and recite the sutras. Then, give general torma offerings and also recite the sutras. Then, perform the seven-branch practice of inner practice, etc. Then, offer the tun torma, and after offering the tun torma, there is no contradiction in performing the evening practice. Meditate on Abhisamaya. Light a lamp on the torma and move it to a clean place. Then, recite whatever mantra you can, and if you have meditation, then meditate; if not, then sleep. Iti! This was written by Master Josay Kunga Gyaltsen for Yeshe Senge. This was copied from an old manuscript from Goroom, and it is as it is. Nomenclature Recitation Method Svasti! Although there are many methods for reciting the Manjushri Namasamgiti, there are three that are widely known: mantra-like --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Method of recitation: Recite focusing on the merits of the name. 6-469 It is said that one recites focusing on the name itself. The key to briefly summarizing and reciting the three is: self-generation and front-generation as one. The common front-generation is: in a secluded place, sit on a comfortable cushion, take refuge and generate Bodhicitta. Then, in front of oneself, visualize a large lotus tree. On top of it, on a moon seat transformed from the letter A (藏文:ཨ,梵文天城体:अ,梵文罗马拟音:a,汉语字面意思:无), visualize a red-yellow MÃṂ (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思:). From that letter, radiate light, make offerings to the noble ones, purify the sins and obscurations of all sentient beings, then gather it back into the letter MÃṂ (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思:), the letter MÃṂ (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思:) fully manifests, transforming into the noble Mañjuśrī, with a reddish-yellow body color like saffron, one face and two arms. The two right hands hold the sword of wisdom and an arrow, the two left hands hold an Utpala flower, on top of the flower blooming near the ear, there is the Prajñāpāramitā Sutra and a bow. Sitting in the vajra posture, wearing various silk skirts, a silk crown, adorned with various jewels, like a young eight or sixteen-year-old, dwelling joyfully in front of me. First, visualize being surrounded by immeasurable Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, below that, visualize being surrounded by Pratyekabuddhas and Śrāvakas, 6-470 Gods, Nāgas, Vidyādharas, Dharma protectors, world protectors, worldly and transmundane beings surround. One's own mind is free from elaboration, with a voice like thunder, starting from glorious Vajradhara, recite up to 'ཨ་ར་པ་ཙ་ནཱ་ཡ་ཏེ་ན་མཿ' (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思:). Like this, starting from the Buddha Bhagavan, focus on praise and recite. Explaining the benefits and virtues, one can quickly see the deity and fully see the deity's form. Afterwards, dedicate the root of virtue to all sentient beings in common, may we attain perfect enlightenment. In India, a Paṇḍita, by reciting the names, saw the deity's form from the navel upwards. The Paṇḍita asked, 'Why can't I fully see the deity's form?' The deity replied, 'Because you did not explain the merits.' This is the oral instruction of the Dharma Lord Translator. Danma Chokyi Gyalpo made it after consulting Sakya Paṇḍita. The Sakya ritual, the method of offering the sixty-four Torma offerings and the method of reciting the names, these two ancient documents were compiled together by Sakya Ngawang Kunga Sonam. ༈ །། ༄། །A document in which Sachen, Tsemoche, Sapan, Phakpa, etc., personally showed the deity and gave profound teachings. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
