Now, in order to bestow upon you the empowerment of the deathless vidyadhara life, I will first briefly relate the historical account. Long ago, before countless eons, a great king who ruled over the four great continents, named "Holder of the Circumference of Spokes," generated the mind of enlightenment towards the Complete Buddha Precious Essence. He accumulated merit for three countless eons and purified obscurations for three countless eons. Then, at the end of three countless eons, he was born as the son of the Chakravartin King Excellent in the Western Pure Land of Sukhavati and attained complete enlightenment. He resides in the realm called Immeasurable Qualities in the sky above that realm. That Complete Buddha performed inconceivable deeds for the benefit of sentient beings of the six realms. Among them, in this Jambudvipa, the land of karma, during the age of strife when life expectancy is one hundred years, in order to guide beings through the secret mantra dharma in the teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni, a vajra hrīḥ (藏文：རྡོ་རྗེ་ཧྲཱིཿ，梵文天城体：वज्र ह्रीः，梵文罗马拟音：vajra hrīḥ，汉语字面意思：Vajra Hrih) syllable emanated into the Dhanakosha Sea. In the center of that sea, an object adorned with golden sand formed, and on its southern side, three springs with eight qualities flowed. From the central spring, a lotus flower stamen stalk grew, and from it, the Great Teacher of Oddiyana, Padmasambhava, was born in the Water Male Monkey year (Tibetan calendar).
