Whatever is destroyed by the power of earth, even if nominally established, has no merit. This object, which is the abode of many faults and defects, should be viewed without attachment, and one should become accustomed to extreme aversion, like being in the midst of an impure pond. Therefore, being bound by attachment to this, one does not attain the splendor of perfection. Even this evil thing should be abandoned, for by means of skillful methods, one can attract a hundred thousand benefits and joys. Since it is naturally subject to separation, and since there is no essence in it, one should take the essence. Since all possessions are for the sake of taking, what is there that one should not abandon? One should be extremely delighted in abandoning. Alas! These beings, deceived by the illusory tricks of the unknowing demon, wander again and again helplessly in the wilderness of existence. When these beings hold me in the womb and care for me, they look upon me as if I were a piece of their heart, and they attend to me with all the splendor they possess. Such perfect and loving mothers never have the opportunity to abandon me of their own free will, yet they are robbed by the power of birth and death. All sentient beings in the ten directions desire happiness just as I do, but alas, I see my mothers abandoning happiness out of ignorance. Having been bound by love for a long time, they die with the suffering of separation. Even when they meet me now, they unknowingly scold me. Their minds are disturbed by the demon of intoxication, and diseases of stinging pain such as hatred constantly enter their hearts. How can they not be conquered by the decay of their mothers? For a long time, wandering in existence without a protector, enduring unbearable suffering, who with a mind would not feel compassion for all these beings who have become relatives? Therefore, towards all sentient beings, not only should there be no anger, but one should cultivate extreme love, like a mother towards her beloved child. If I, who should nourish them, am angry even when they obtain a little bit of happiness in a hundred ways, alas, by whom is my mind deceived? The splendor and wealth of others do not steal even a little from me. Even if they do not have it, I do not gain even a fraction of it. Even if one were to reach the end of the ocean of qualities and become a Buddha in every way, my share of qualities would not be diminished. Why is my mind angry at this? Even if splendor with pride oppresses me, splendor is the fruit of good deeds, pride

In the situation of these two, with the definite understanding of discernment, the mind is repeatedly practiced diligently, and the appearances of clinging are thoroughly purified. Although it is emptiness, yet also by, all the manifestations of sentient beings' cities, without examining the pleasant state, practice in the manner of an illusion. Manjushri's great light of wisdom, in the manner of a lamp of knowledge mantra, may it surely be clear in the heart, may it burn away the thickets of obscurations. Thus, Manjushri's heroic, wisdom sword born from compassion, cuts through the five illusions of demons, cuts off the demon of self-grasping afflictions. Nowhere will it be reborn again, even the traces of what was born in the past, in a state of non-existence, with the method of truly annihilating, when annihilated, then with the manner of destroying the spear-house, the demon of the son of the gods is destroyed. Like a sprout from a burnt seed, the skandha demon also causes it to cease, like a lamp with exhausted oil, the demon of the Lord of Death will also die. At that time, destroying the battle of the four demons, with the power of a heroic lion, in sentient beings, cuts off the stream of sentient beings, constantly practices fearless conduct. The door to destroying the great battle of demons, the skillful means, the path of the light of wisdom, made clear with true words, may this virtue, may all these beings, be victorious from the battle of the four demons, may Manjushri Vajra be accomplished. This profound key to common mind training, was written by Mipham Namgyal on the 4th day of the 10th month of the Earth Tiger year of the Rabjung cycle, may all corners of the space-like realms become gardens of yellow flowers, adorned with immeasurable splendor, etc., may the self-appearing aspirations be virtuous. Mangalam! The sword of knowing that destroys the illusions of demons.
