Oral Instructions on the Profound Essence of the Three Vajras of the Lama. Lochen Dharma Shri. This is the Oral Instructions on the Profound Essence of the Three Vajras of the Lama. Lochen Dharma Shri. The elder Dharma Shri, in order to encourage his attendant Ananta Mati to engage in virtuous practice, taught from the depths of his heart the oral instructions called Profound Essence. The activity of all the Buddhas of the three times, The one eternal refuge, the great treasure Dharma Lord. From the depths of my heart and bones, I take refuge in you, May you always protect me with your loving wisdom eye. Alas! Wise and fortunate heart-son, This life is short, the next is immeasurable, Day and night, think well of the aspiration for lasting happiness, And take to heart the essence of the sacred Dharma. Like the extremely rare Udumbara flower, If found, it is as meaningful as a wish-fulfilling jewel, Do not waste this precious human rebirth with leisure and opportunity, Strive to accomplish the perfection of both aims. This body is impermanent and will surely perish, Thinking of the uncertainty of when we will die, abandon this life's Attachment, hatred, and clinging, and to the Dharma of death, Strive with intense diligence and one-pointedness. The teaching of impermanence, the results of white and black karma, Like the shadow of the body, follow after death. Therefore, by the power of good and bad karma, In the three realms of samsara, wherever one is born, high or low, The wheel of suffering has no happiness, especially, If one falls into the abyss of the lower realms, suffering will be cut off. From beginningless time, the torment has been so long, Now it is wise to seek liberation from the depths of our hearts. Abandon the temporary refuge and cast profit and loss into samsara, The unerring, eternal refuge, the Treasure Lord Ling (referring to the tertön Chokgyur Lingpa), In the essence of the union of the Three Jewels, I take refuge, I pray that you protect all beings, including myself, with your compassion. Having been cared for with kindness in past lives, mother sentient beings, Having been rescued from the suffering of the terrifying samsara, In order to place them on the path of peace and liberation, Firmly hold the supreme Bodhicitta. The main practice is divided into three parts, among which is the oral instruction on visualizing the deity's form, In the state of emptiness, this very place where we are, From the beginning, it is the pure Buddha-field, My body is the pure, indestructible vajra, Its nature, in the center bound by a protective wheel, On a lotus and moon seat, in an instant, my own mind, Like a fish leaping out of the water, Avalokiteśvara, White and clear, with one face and four arms,

The first two hands, at the heart, form the lotus mudra, the lower right and left hands, count the crystal rosary, and hold a white lotus stem. Peaceful smile, endowed with marks and signs, youthfulness exceedingly complete. Wearing silk and precious ornaments, seated in vajra posture. In the sky directly above one's crown, on a lion throne, lotus, sun and moon cushion, is the embodiment of all refuges, the kind Dharma Lord, the great treasure master Lama Gyurme Dorje Tsal. Wearing white robes, adorned with willow leaves, radiant and dazzling. Reciting Om Ah Hum, the two hands hold, the union of skillful means and wisdom, vajra and bell. White facial ornaments reach to the heart. In the center of the swirling rays of the five-colored rainbow light, the two feet are seated upright in the vajra posture. When such clarity is established, in the state of clarity, hold the mind for a moment, cut off distractions, and immediately practice vigorously, repeatedly. When the deity's form is clearly and stably arisen, light radiates from the Lama's body, and by the touch of the light, awaken all appearances as the play of the Lama. From this, focus the mind intensely on the object of focus that appears as the deity, and apart from that, cultivate only by the clear appearance of the deity's form. All appearances of the deity's form, like reflections in a mirror, rest in the state of clarity and emptiness. By diligently practicing in this way, in the meantime, good experiences of clarity and emptiness, free from attachment, will arise. Ultimately, appearance and emptiness will be liberated into the deity's form. At the time of gathering the session, the Lama on the crown of the head, dissolves into oneself, One's own mind and the Lama, in a state of non-duality, rest for a moment in equanimity. The Lama's view and blessings, actually enter into oneself. (Transference) Or transform oneself into a ball of five-colored light, burning and shooting upwards, dissolving into the Lama's heart, and gradually disappearing into a higher place. In emptiness, increase stability, and rest equally. By cultivating in this way, obtain the empowerment of awareness, the Dharmakaya abides in its own nature, master the path of transference, and cut off the cliff of the bardo. The body becomes as solid as a rock, and at the same time, consciousness attains liberation. (Illusory Body) From this, arise as the Lama's body, all appearances, are the play of unreal, dreamlike bubbles. Without fabrication, relax and abide in a state of non-thought. By this, one will be able to master the appearance of the illusory body. (Dream Yoga) At the time of sleep, in the center of the sphere of light in the heart, the Lama abides in an extremely minute form. The upper and lower parts of the body gather, the Lama light like a strand of hair
