Having surrounded it with quiet islets, he pointed the sword at himself and said, "Use this body that has turned into gold yourself. Do not touch the bones, only cut the flesh. Do not use it for sinful things such as liquor money and prostitutes. If you use it for your own livelihood and virtuous deeds, then the wound that is cut off today will heal tonight, and it will not be exhausted." He himself took the sword and went to the heavenly realm. That devotee, relying on the gold of the corpse, built the Odantapuri Monastery. Odanta means flying, and it was built like ascending into the sky and actually seeing the layout of Mount Meru and the four continents. The materials for building it and the livelihood of the five hundred monks and five hundred devotees who resided there were also provided. Until he died, he himself supported the foundation of the Dharma, and when he passed away, the remaining gold was buried as a treasure for the benefit of future sentient beings. It is said that that vast foundation of the Dharma was entrusted to Devapala. It is said that he was the son of a Naga, and the father of this king was King Gopala, and his queen asked a Brahmin who had mastered mantras for a mantra to control the king. (The Brahmin) mixed blessed medicine with food and instructed, 'Give it well to the king,' and then gave it to a maidservant, but the substance fell into the water and was carried by the water to the place of the Nagas. The Naga king, called Ocean Protector (literal translation of Tibetan), ate that, and was controlled. He came in the form of the king and met the queen, and she became pregnant. Later, a boy was born, and when offering to the gods, a snake's head appeared, and knowing that he was the son of the Naga king, they raised him. After King Gopala passed away, King Devapala ruled. He was more powerful than his predecessor, and eastern Varendra was brought under his rule. He wanted to build a special monastery, so he built the Somapuri Monastery. Regarding this, most Tibetan histories say that they lit butter lamps and made offerings to the Dharma protectors, praying that wherever the vase was carried, it would be built there. Later, an emanation of the Dharma protector appeared as a crow and threw the vase into the lake. When (the king) was disappointed, the Naga king, a five-headed snake, appeared and said, 'I am your father, drain the lake and build it there.' It is said that it was built on the site of the drained lake like this. That is applying the history of building a monastery in the place of Kashmir's hidden lake here.

Jetsun Tāranātha of Jonang said, "There was an interruption." When this king gathered an army to defeat the heretics, Mahākāla said, "If you want to destroy the heretical temple under this sand dune, surround it with troops and play music." When this was done, a wonderful stone temple emerged from under the sand dune, and it was named the Glorious Three Realms Temple. Some historical accounts say that when this was done, Hinayana practitioners also appeared to obstruct, and they displayed miracles and then passed into nirvana. It is also said that about forty heretical temples and residences were destroyed. During the reign of this king, the practice of black magic should be reduced. Through the practice of Chakrasamvara, he received a prophecy from the ḍākinīs, saying, "In the place of the goddess of Kāmarūpa, enjoy the substance of accomplishment." When he went there, he found a sealed stone. When he opened it, a webbed ḍamaru appeared. As soon as he picked it up, his feet no longer touched the ground. If he shook it violently, about five hundred accomplished male and female yogis would appear from nowhere and become his retinue, and he would benefit beings for a long time. At this time, the disciples of Master Shakya Light, Shakya Mitra, Dṛṣṭaṃ Sya Na (the Tooth Division), Yeshe Dawa (Wisdom Moon), Vajra Weapon, Jampal Drakpa (Manjushri Glory), Yeshe Jin (Wisdom Gift), and the accomplished renunciates of the southern lineage, Chenrezig (Avalokiteśvara), and the master Senge Zangpo (Lion Bhadra) also became paṇḍitas during the reign of this king. Then, when King Tāpa Pāla ruled for twelve years, the Uḍḍiyāna master Sgegpa Dorje (Charming Vajra) stayed at Glorious Nālandā for ten years. Layman monk Svabhāvaśūnya (Emptiness of Nature).
