He could recite about fifty sutras from memory. He had a retinue of thousands of laymen. When the retinue suffered from the harm of poisonous snakes, he scattered flowers with the mantra of Tara, causing even those who had swallowed the snakes to expel them, and all were liberated into happiness. At this time, due to the influence of the times, scholars were few, and the attacks of heretics were particularly rampant. The Buddhist debaters were in a state of anxiety. There was a pandita named Bihāra who promised to debate with many heretics the next day, but he was hesitant, wondering if he could win. Then, an old woman appeared, wearing a crown of thorns on her head, and said, \"Go and debate, you will be victorious.\" He did so, and he was victorious. He was also victorious elsewhere. From then on, the custom of panditas wearing tall hats gradually became popular. After that, near a forest of flourishing Likara trees, a beautiful royal woman united with a tree god, and in time, she gave birth to a boy with auspicious signs. When he grew up, he asked the goddess Chandali for the method of meditation, and through practice, the goddess appeared to him in a dream. He prayed to obtain the kingdom. The goddess prophesied, \"Go to the east, and you will obtain it.\" At that time, there was no king in the land of Bengal for a long time, and the people were suffering. The leaders gathered and decided to appoint a king. There was a powerful and cruel dragon woman who ate the appointed king that night. So, they appointed kings in turn, and the king appointed in the morning was eaten at night, and the corpse was carried out at dawn. The one who had accomplished the goddess Chandra went to a house where he saw them burdened with suffering. When he asked the reason, they said, \"Tomorrow it is his son's turn to be king.\" He said, \"If you pay me, I will take his place.\" They were very happy and paid him. The next day, he was appointed king. At midnight, the dragon woman transformed into the form of a rakshasi and came to eat him as before. He struck her with the weapon of his yidam, and the dragon woman died on the spot. Dawn" } ] ============================================================

There appeared those who could turn sand into gold. Seeing that they did not die, everyone was amazed and they were appointed as kings. In the early part of his life, he ruled over Banggala, and in the later part, he conquered Banggapa. He also built a monastery called Nālandā near Otantapurī. In that place, he established many sanghas and made offerings to the Dharma. He reigned for forty-five years. During the reign of this king, Śākya-prabha, a disciple of Śānti-prabha and Puṇyakīrti, carried out activities in the land of Kashmir. In that land appeared the great Dhanaśīla, and especially Kalyāṇamitra, Prajñāvarman, and Vinayadhara-ācārya-vīra. In the east, there was Acarya Ye-shes-snying-po, as well as Saṃbuddha-yeśapāda, Ye-shes-snying-po, and Śāntarakṣita, who upheld the tradition of the Madhyamaka school. After that, in the western region of Gaccha, there appeared a king named Vibharaṭṭa. During his time, the younger Virūpa appeared. Although that king was devoted to Buddhism, the ministers were devoted to outsiders, so they built many stone statues of deities of both inner and outer schools, about the size of a human. Because the inner and outer temples were treated differently, the ministers combined them into one, so there was a need for someone skilled in consecration, but there was no one else. They saw that a Buddhist layman possessed this quality, so they had him do it. He said, "I will not do the service of the outsiders." They said, "You do not need to take refuge in the outsiders; if you can bring inexhaustible wealth, you can make the Dharma flourish." He said, "Then I will ask my teacher and come back." After asking, the teacher allowed it, and he performed the service. The zombie would stick out its tongue three times. If the first time is successful, great accomplishment will be achieved; the second time is medium; the third time is small accomplishment. If it is not successful after three times, then first we two will be eaten, and then the entire country will be destroyed." That layman did not succeed in the first two times. Then, he sat face to face with the zombie. The third time, he bit the zombie's tongue and succeeded. Then, the tongue turned into a sword, and the body turned into gold. The layman took the sword and circled around, and when he ascended into the sky, the outsiders said, "I practiced for the sake of the sword, so give the sword to me." He said, "I will watch a show and come back." Then he went to the top of Mount Meru.
