The Collected Teachings of Milarepa MILA5 Ceremony of Asking About Illness 3-3-119b Ceremony of Asking About Illness Generally, it is not necessary to trace the lineage back from the author of a treatise. However, it is important to have something that has not undergone unedited teachings and oral transmissions. In general, in the history of the Dharma cycle of Marpa Lotsawa (the Translator of Lho), the great Jetsun Milarepa is described in detail. In the Dharma cycle of Milarepa, Nyamdzong Tönpa Bodhiraja is described in detail. It is said that Nyamdzong Tönpa attended Lama Milarepa for twenty-seven years. It is said that Rechung Dorje Drak attended him continuously for twenty-two years. In general, many people served him diligently both early and late. In essence, the supreme heart-son was Rechung Dorje Drak himself. Furthermore, the histories of the Rechungpas are clear in their respective biographies. Gampopa 3-3-120a only attended for nine months. In general, do not listen to false information about the abilities and Dharma of everyone. May there be goodness and excellence in all directions and times! In this way, from the body, speech, and mind of all the Buddhas of the three times, which are inseparable and have become the essence of wisdom. Under the protection of the immeasurable great compassion of the Lama and the Three Jewels, from the presence of the Lord of Yoga, the hermit, with loving-kindness and compassion, in the emptiness of Bodhicitta, in an unwavering state. By means of skillful means, emptiness, clarity, and myriadfold samadhi, elevating the state of samadhi higher and higher, or from the unobstructed power of wisdom that transcends the mind and is inexpressible, benefiting others through the gate of great compassion, engaging in the benefit of sentient beings through the four means of attraction. Do you not have weariness in your body? Have you not forgotten the order of your commitments during the brief period of separation? In response: The King of Mindfulness, the Lord of Dharma. By the kindness of the qualified Lama. We are well and comfortable in this way. From the presence of so-and-so, may your body be completely pure, may your speech be completely pure, may your speech be without defilement, may your mind be free from elaboration, and may you dwell in the state of the Great Seal (Mahamudra), 3-3-120b unwavering in your compassion for the benefit of beings? The ceremony of asking about illness is virtuous and complete! Milarepa said: When we arrive in our sleeping quarters, without succumbing to the sleep of delusion. Practice Lama Yoga in the evening. At midnight, pray to the deity. At dawn, invoke the life-force winds. At sunrise, gain mastery over appearances with a vast view. Most importantly, watch the spectacle of your own mind. This was said to Lhaje Yeng at Shingri Namar. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Homage to the Lama and Yidam, Khyunpo Mila Thospa, Nagarjuna Gonpo, Dorje Gyaltsen, Palden Zhaypay Dorje, and Wangchuk Mila Rechen. Initially, the story of Mila Thospa singing songs is: He said that he learned from the singer Tongtse Dromar of Tsang Nyangto. What he learned included: On top of the structure of the frog, garuda, and naga of 'existence' (Sridpa), there are nine tiers of ornaments in the celestial realm, in the middle there is the white banner of the intermediate realm, and below there is the black coiled snake of the naga realm. It is said that when Tongtse Dromar opened his mouth to sing, he could sing about eighty-four thousand nagas.
