The Collection of Teachings of Marpa the Translator MARPA39 Working with the Three Classes of Ministers and Harmonizing with the People 2-1-138b Working with the Three Classes of Ministers and Harmonizing with the People Working with the Three Classes of Ministers and Harmonizing with the People. Namo Guru (Homage to the Guru). The instruction on working with the three classes of ministers, the common wish-fulfilling jewel, has three parts. First, supplicating the Lama: As you generate yourself as the Yidam, light radiates from the seed-syllable at your heart, and the Lama is invited from his natural abode to come to the crown of your head. From the HUM at his heart, light radiates, and all the Lamas of the Kagyu lineage are invited. All of them appear in the form of Heruka, with damaru drums and bone ornaments, making tinkling sounds, and they come in the sky before you. Again, light radiates from the Lama, and the mandala wheel of the Yidam, together with the charnel ground, surrounded by the assembly of thirty-seven glorious Vajrayoginis, is also invited. Again, all the Dakinis of the ten directions 2-1-139a are invited to come, and you supplicate them: Lama Vajradhara (Tibetan: རྡོ་རྗེ་འཛིན་པ, Sanskrit Devanagari: वज्रधर, Sanskrit Romanization: Vajradhara, Literal meaning: Vajra Holder), glorious Chakrasamvara (Tibetan: བདེ་མཆོག་འཁོར་ལོ, Sanskrit Devanagari: सुखचक्र, Sanskrit Romanization: Sukhacakra, Literal meaning: Wheel of Bliss) and the entire assembly of glorious Vajrayoginis, I take refuge in you, please grant your blessings. May the intentions of the Lamas, Yidams, and Dakinis be completely fulfilled, may the fulfillment be complete, and may the completion be ultimate. Thus, recite. And offer all your qualities to the Lama. Prostrate in body, confess your faults, and gather all the roots of virtue accumulated in the three times, and combine them with the great bliss that is free from defilements, and leave yourself uncorrected in the state of co-emergent bliss and emptiness. Then, all of that dissolves into light and merges into the Lama, and your Lama blazes with even greater splendor and transforms into the form of Heruka. Say these words: Lama Vajradhara, please grant your blessings to me. [Supplicate in this way three times.] Then, finally, it dissolves into yourself, and you focus on the seed-syllable HUM at your heart. Let it dissolve naturally. Then, the blessings of the Lama will surely enter your body, speech, and mind, and you should think that all obstacles cannot prevail. Finally, in an instant, from the illusory body, manifest as the deity's form, the essence of clear light, the nature of union, and practice accordingly. Second, the empowerment of Samadhi: Just by remembering the Lama, the Lama appears in the sky before you, and there, on a lotus and sun disc of various colors. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then, offering outer, inner, and secret offerings to the essence of Heruka (Wrathful Deity) Vajradhara (Diamond Holder), supplicate the great Vajradhara Guru to bestow empowerment upon me. Upon supplication, rays of light emanate from the Guru's brow, throat, secret place, and heart, piercing and dissolving into one's own brow, etc., thereby introducing the four empowerments, purifying what is to be purified and endowing what is to be attained. This is the empowerment of Samadhi. Third, the practice of the Hundred Syllable Mantra: Visualize above your crown, on a lotus and moon seat, the glorious Vajrasattva Heruka, white in color, with one face and two arms, holding a vajra and bell, embracing a consort who is red in color. The consort also holds similar implements. Visualize them in a dancing posture, adorned with bone ornaments that make a tinkling sound. From their bodies, light radiates, inviting an identical form from Akanishta (highest pure land), which merges into them. Then, reciting the Hundred Syllable Mantra of Heruka, visualize the union of the Father and Mother, from which nectar descends, purifying all outer and inner obscurations. Finally, dissolve both the deity and oneself into emptiness. It is said that this contains the essential point of blending all these into one. The above are the three preliminary dharmas, which gather and explain the retinue of the three families (three lineages). Now, concerning the instructions on activities and conducive conditions, there are seven aspects. First is the yoga of clothing: Recite 'Om Vajra Dhrika Om Hum Ah,' blessing the hat to transform it into the essence of dancing flames, and then wear it. Recite 'Om Tram Ah,' visualizing the necklace as Ratnasambhava (Jewel-born). Recite 'Om Ah Kham,' visualizing the belt as Amoghasiddhi (Unfailing Accomplishment). Recite 'Om Hrih Ah,' visualizing the nose ornament as Amitabha (Boundless Light). Recite 'Om Bhrum Ah,' visualizing the bracelets as Vairochana (Illuminator). Recite 'Om Ah Hum,' remembering the upper garment as elephant skin and the lower skirt as tiger skin. Blessing the meditation cord: Recite 'Om Ah Hum,' visualizing light radiating from body, speech, and mind, like a web of light, initially starting from Om and extending to the end of Ali Kali, threading through the mala in a crisscross manner with a meditative posture, and bless it. Then, the yoga of bathing: First --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
