A request prompted by the supreme incarnation of Dzogchen Gemang Rinpoche, the great illuminator of the Early Translation Teachings. A request prompted by the supreme incarnation of Dzogchen Gemang Rinpoche, the great illuminator of the Early Translation Teachings. Homage to Maha Guru Thötreng Tsal! May Padmakunduchang bestow blessings. The essence of awareness pervades all of samsara and nirvana, the reality of all dharmas is suchness itself. It transcends all realms of speech, thought, and expression, primordial purity is like the sky, uncompounded and uncreated. Unfabricated, self-arisen, free from the extremes of elaboration, from the beginning, there has been no delusion, nor is there anything to be liberated. The nature of intelligence is primordially clear as light, it is not anything, yet its own energy manifests as anything. Because it is wisdom, body and realm arise, though covered by billions of afflictions, there is no obscuration, even when the state of being is manifest, there is no purification. The power of awareness, for those who do not recognize their own face, is that a moment of thought mistakes the two, grasper and grasped. Samsara and nirvana turn their backs and wander in the three realms, what is called self, though not established from the ground up, by grasping at self, it becomes the basis of all delusion. That grasping thought is labeled as mind, from mind, mental events increase without end. Because its face is not recognized, it falls into the box of suffering. If the vulnerability of the mind is known, and the root of grasping collapses, then self-liberated awareness will attain its own ground. Many scriptures and reasonings also examine the state of being, but they only see one side, and cannot realize it as it is. The ultimate truth is far beyond the realm of the mind, even discriminating thought itself is mind in essence, therefore, it becomes an obstacle obscuring the primordial state of being. Samsara, nirvana, the two truths, liberation, delusion, realization, non-realization, whatever belongs to the category of grasper and grasped is mind. Therefore, meditating on them adds more delusion to delusion. If the root of grasping at self is not exhausted, one can never touch the actual state of being. However, all establishments based on mind are said to be methods for guiding those with initial karma. The yogi of the Great Perfection, who transcends the mind, does not accept or reject the mind, but leaves it in its natural state. Awareness abides in the natural state of its essence, spontaneously fulfilling itself. Ordinary consciousness, uncorrected and unadulterated, possesses the essence of empty-clear unobstructed awareness. By one's own devotion, the blessings of the lama, and the awakening of karmic connections, one sees it nakedly.

At that time, the proliferation of samsara and nirvana ceases in the Dharma. Meditation and non-meditation are free from the husk of the mind. Distraction and non-distraction are liberated from the nest of thoughts. It is not mixed with the unindicated nature of the Alaya. It is clear and transparent. Free from grasping, one does not seek happiness elsewhere, but only seeks this. To know the true nature of reality as it is, is to directly see the Dharma nature for the first time. By becoming accustomed and familiar, one gains firm confidence. Various experiences increase upwards. Spontaneously arising in ordinary nature is when realization reaches its culmination. Self-arising wisdom is without decrease or increase. The Dharma realm is vast, great, and flat. The final appearance of the exhaustion of Dharma nature, the basis of appearance of the original Kadag Trekchö, leads to the original exhaustion when it reaches the end. Thus, the yogi of blissful mind who has realized this, the grasping of self is empty in the realm of Dharma. The root of the moving empty mind is cut off in its own place. The illusion of grasping and being grasped dissolves without arising or ceasing. The knot tied to mind and Dharma is untied, gradually reaching the ground of original liberation. There is no need to say much about practice. Grasping at "I" and "mine," and afflictions, etc., the first sudden arising of consciousness in an instant, is the root of delusion and liberation, so immediately, when self-arising and self-liberation occur in the state of awareness, there is no need to seek the intention of the Dharmakaya separately. Apart from constantly holding the self-nature of awareness, there is no need for any superior view or meditation. However, if one is overcome by distraction and does not hold onto mindfulness, one will not gain stability from mere recognition. Therefore, it is essential to practice diligently in a solitary place. The explanation, listening, and contemplation of scriptures are wonderful because they are the teachings of the scriptures. However, the mind of sectarianism obscures the true meaning. If one abandons meditation and practice, one will be empty of essence. The stream of realization will be cut off, and the river of blessings will diminish. Like a Gandhola grass pretending to be a lion, Mahamudra and Dzogchen will also become mere names. High view and subtle conduct are praised as the essence of the sutra and tantra path. Therefore, do not let conduct be lost in the direction of view, and do not let view fall into the direction of conduct. Thus, one enters the path that pleases the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Since the proliferation of words has no end, the essence of the ultimate meaning is condensed into the heart of practice, which is the union of emptiness and compassion.
