The chief of the protectors, the great Mahākāla, is praised as the excellent Brag mgon, the black protector of the teachings. The sequence of the manifest realizations of that very one, as it arose from the words of the lama, without error or mistake, like a beautiful string of pearls, for the benefit of others, I will write here. Those who wish to practice the Great Black One should first take refuge and generate bodhicitta. Purify into emptiness with स्वाभाव (藏文：སྭ་བྷཱ་ཝ།，梵文天城体：स्वभाव，梵文罗马拟音：svabhāva，汉语字面意思：self-nature). From within emptiness, visualize yourself as the yidam. In front of you, a spear and a self-knife stand side by side. A multitude of mothers are in turmoil. In the center of a swirling black wind, a triangular, dark blue-black, blazing palace. In the center of that, on top of the crossed male and female enemies and obstructors, is an iron wheel with a thousand spokes. In the center of that, on top of a lotus and sun seat, from Hūṃ (藏文：ཧཱུྃ，梵文天城体：हुं，梵文罗马拟音：hūṃ，汉语字面意思：Hūṃ) arises a black curved knife, its center marked with Hūṃ (藏文：ཧཱུྃ，梵文天城体：हुं，梵文罗马拟音：hūṃ，汉语字面意思：Hūṃ).
