The author of "The Source of Dharma," also known as "The Great Treasury, the Sun Illuminating the Teachings," Omniscient Longchen Rabjampa Drime Ozer, was born in Chato Village in Gyoru Dra, as the son of Dromza Sonam Gyen, a descendant of the accomplished Chokyang, the emanation of Pal Tachok Rolpai, a direct disciple of Guru Padmasambhava, and a descendant of Dromton Gyalwai Jungne. In the second month of the Earth Monkey year of the fifth Rabjung (1308), he emerged from the womb amidst auspicious omens. At the age of five, he became proficient in writing and reading. At the age of seven, he heard and studied the Sugata, medicine, and astrology from his father, and from then on, he began to engage in extensive study and contemplation of all internal and external cultures, cutting through exaggerations and diminutions. At the age of twelve, he received the novice vows from Khenpo Samdrub Rinchen of Samye Monastery and Khenpo Kunga Ozer, and was given the name Tsultrim Lodro. Thereafter, from many great scholars such as Khenpo Tashi Rinchen, Wang Yeshe, Khropupa, Rinpoche Zalu, the fifteenth abbot of Lingto Monastery in Ne Sangpu, Khenpo Tsengonpa, the sixteenth abbot Chopal Gyaltsen, and Panglo Lodro Tenpa, he heard the Vinaya and Lamdre, the Six Dharmas, Chakdor Khorchen, Charya Tantra, Yoga Tantra, Kalachakra, and other tantras, as well as the instructions of Zhang Tsalpa, the stages of the path of Godtsangpa, Chod, and the Zhije Earlier, Later and Intermediate, as well as the Five Treatises of Maitreya, the Seven Treatises on Valid Cognition, the Perfection of Wisdom, the Madhyamaka, and other philosophical systems, as well as grammar, poetry, rhetoric, composition, drama, and other common and uncommon fields of knowledge, completing thorough study and contemplation, and accumulating vast knowledge. 他的修行地包括桑耶青浦(bSam yas mchims phu),邬金宗(O rgyan rdzong),拉日扎(Lha ri brag),扎普(Gra phu),秀赛(Shug gseb),冈日托嘎(Gangs ri thod dkar),觉托提卓(gZhu stod ti sgro),耶巴(Yer pa),雅拉香波(Yar lha sham po),布姆塘(Bum thang),江布华吉格丁(sKyams bu dpal gyi dge sdings),工布日拉瓦隆(Gong po ri'i gla ba lung),以及工布擦冈的各个山谷(Kong po rtsa gong gi phu rnam)。

Although he had cultivated an unwavering sense of fearlessness, within the snowy mountains, he abandoned sectarianism and partiality towards the numerous existing scriptures and instructions. Like a young bee intoxicated by the essence of nectar, he listened extensively to the teachings from masters such as Dan Bagpa, Instructor Zhonnu Dondrup, Myopa Tingmawa, and Sangye Drakpa, including the Nyingma school's three sections of Sutra, Illusion, and Mind, as well as the Hundred Thousand Tantras. Furthermore, from masters such as Instructor Zhonnu Gyal, Zhondor, Je Rangjung Dorje, Wangtsul, Sakya Lama Dampa, and Shuksep Ripa Zhondor, he received the essence of their teachings, mastering all the famous philosophical tenets within the snowy mountains, and developed an unobstructed wisdom in explanation, debate, and composition. Thus, this great being, renowned as the Second Buddha, although having reached the pinnacle of learning and contemplation, developed immeasurable weariness and renunciation towards the nature of cyclic existence in all its aspects. He then conceived the intention to seek solitude in forests or secluded places and wandered without a fixed abode, dedicating himself solely to practice. It is said that by accomplishing the Light Body, he displayed countless signs of attainment and realized the ultimate view of the Innermost Essence (Nyingtik). His practice places included Samye Chimphu, Orgyen Dzong, Lhari Drak, Traphu, Shuksep, Gangri Thökar, Zhutö Tigro, Yerpa, Yarlha Shampo, Bumthang, Kyambu Palgyi Geding, Gongpo Ri's Lhawa Lung, and the various valleys of Kongpo Tsagong. In Lhozhag, U-Tsang, and all the border regions of Lhomon, he repeatedly gathered thousands of disciples, and thus, he became known throughout the land as "Kunpang Khyenchö Je," or "Lord of Omniscient Dharma," as well as "Vagishvara" (Lord of Speech) and "Vimalamitra" (Stainless Light). The scriptural compositions he authored are so numerous that it is difficult to list each title individually, but if only the categories are enumerated, there are approximately ninety-eight treatises on common and uncommon subjects, particularly over one hundred and twenty-eight treatises on inner subjects, and approximately two hundred and sixty-three treatises on definitive secret subjects. In addition, there is the work called "The Precious Treasury of the History of Dharma," as well as "The Stages of Practice," "The Rituals for the Living and the Dead," "The Precious Garland," and so forth, which are actually held in hand.
