Stars. The mandala of the sun, measuring fifty-one yojanas. Its base is fire crystal, and its edges are made of gold. The mandala of the moon, measuring fifty yojanas. Its base is water crystal, and its edges are made of silver. Within these two are the cities of the gods, with gardens, ponds, and roads made of precious jewels. Showers of flowers naturally fall, submerging the knees. The old ones wither away, and the new ones are vividly displayed. The collection of stars is also the essence of water crystal, the city of gods well-enclosed by golden fences. The distance is from one to six yojanas. Some are of excellent gold and sparkling water crystal, with distances from one to eighteen yojanas. On the summit of Mount Meru reside the Thirty-Three Gods. Unmixed, radiating light, possessing supreme glory, and so forth. Attendants and retinues have thirty-two abodes, and the main deity's abode is the realm of the Thirty-Three Heavens. The vast area of the four sides of Mount Meru's summit, each side measures eighty thousand yojanas. Above are villages, lands, trees, and gathering places, and in the center is the supreme, all-victorious palace. Each side is two hundred and fifty yojanas long, surrounded by thousands of cities of gods. Rising upwards by five and a half yojanas, the eight eaves have seven-storied pavilions. Each of these pavilions has seven rooms. Outside are gardens, complete with jeweled ponds. Beyond that is a beautiful city. Each side is two thousand five hundred yojanas long, and one and a half yojanas wide, made of gold. Encircled by golden fences, it is very beautiful. There are nine hundred and ninety-nine great gates. Each gate is one and a half yojanas high and one and a half yojanas wide, equipped with gatekeepers. The roads are two thousand five hundred yojanas long and twelve yojanas wide, smooth and comfortable. They are adorned with ponds, jeweled trees, and lotuses. Outside the city are seven layers of jeweled fences. In between are seven moats, with ponds adorned with swans. The gods frolic and play on jeweled boats. At the four corners of Mount Meru's summit are four pavilions. Each is five and a half yojanas high, and each side is two hundred and twenty-five yojanas long. ...
