Collected Teachings of Ngawang Lodro Drakpa JNLD28, titled 'A Concise Method for Longevity Practice'. 'A Concise Method for Longevity Practice'. 'A Concise Method for Longevity Practice'. The following is a clear and concise visualization sequence for the self-generation practice of Amitayus (Tshe dpag med), according to the tradition of Machig Labdrön (Ma gcig grub rgyal), composed by the esteemed lama. First, the refuge: Visualize that in the pure realm of self-nature, Amitayus (Tshe dpag med) and his retinue, such as bodhisattvas and shravakas, reside like a vast ocean without interruption. In their hearts, they perfectly possess the great treasure of the Dharma of realization and understanding. From this refuge, in an instant, remember that all beings, including oneself and others, are protected from the fears of samsara and nirvana, especially from the obstacles of untimely death, and therefore take refuge with devotion. Recite: Namo rangzhin yingzhuk dzok sangye (藏文:ན་མོ་རང་བཞིན་དབྱིངས་བཞུགས་རྫོགས་སངས་རྒྱས།) (Namo, abiding in the realm of self-nature, perfect Buddha), Tshepakme Gon khor tsok che (藏文:ཚེ་དཔག་མེད་མགོན་འཁོར་ཚོགས་བཅས།) (Amitayus, protector, with your retinue), Tukgyu damcho gang zhuk la (藏文:ཐུགས་རྒྱུད་དམ་ཆོས་གང་བཞུགས་ལ།) (In your heart, the sacred Dharma abides), Dakzhen gupe kyabsu chi (藏文:བདག་གཞན་གུས་པས་སྐྱབས་སུ་མཆི།) (I and others respectfully take refuge). Recite this twenty-one times, etc., with pure faith and visualization, and in the end, there is no need for a dissolution sequence. Then, the generation of bodhicitta: For the benefit of all sentient beings as vast as the sky, I will practice the yoga of longevity in order to attain Buddhahood. Recite: Khamnyam semchen kundon chir (藏文:མཁའ་མཉམ་སེམས་ཅན་ཀུན་དོན་ཕྱིར།) (For the benefit of all sentient beings as vast as the sky), Daknyi sangye chok tob chir (藏文:བདག་ཉིད་སངས་རྒྱས་མཆོག་ཐོབ་ཕྱིར།) (In order to attain supreme Buddhahood), Tseyi naljor nyamlen gyi (藏文:ཚེ་ཡི་རྣལ་འབྱོར་ཉམས་ལེན་བགྱི།) (I will practice the yoga of longevity), Drola lapchen pantok shok (藏文:འགྲོ་ལ་རླབས་ཆེན་ཕན་ཐོགས་ཤོག) (May it greatly benefit all beings). Recite this seven times, etc., to generate bodhicitta. To increase bodhicitta, contemplate the loving-kindness that wishes all sentient beings to have happiness, the compassion that wishes them to be free from suffering, the joy that wishes them never to be separated from supreme bliss, and the equanimity that wishes them to be free from attachment and aversion, directing the mind towards the four immeasurables. Recite: Semchen malü delen zhing (藏文:སེམས་ཅན་མ་ལུས་བདེ་ལྡན་ཞིང་།) (May all sentient beings have happiness), Dukngal kun dral dechok den (藏文:སྡུག་བསྔལ་ཀུན་བྲལ་བདེ་མཆོག་ལྡན།) (May they be free from all suffering and possess supreme bliss), Tangnyom chenpö ngang ne te (藏文:བཏང་སྙོམས་ཆེན་པོའི་ངང་གནས་ཏེ།) (May they abide in great equanimity), Tsemé nambzhi sem kye shok (藏文:ཚད་མེད་རྣམ་བཞིའི་སེམས་སྐྱེ་ཤོག) (May the four immeasurables arise). After reciting this three times, etc., enter the main practice of deity visualization. First, when reciting the Svabhava mantra, visualize that all internal and external phenomena, represented by one's own body, dissolve into the realm of emptiness of self-nature. In that emptiness, self-luminous awareness arises naturally like an uncarved gem, a state of clarity and emptiness beyond expression, and gain certainty about it. This is the Dharmakaya of Amitayus, the wisdom pervading space. Be certain of this. Then, from that emptiness, the self-luminous wisdom arises as the form of the deity, the intention of Amitayus, appearing as the color of lapis lazuli. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you press the vast earth, it will stretch when lifted. In the center of the earth, which is as flat as a palm without high or low points, like a wish-fulfilling tree, the Dharma flourishes. At its roots, to symbolize the complete enlightenment of the Buddha, on a precious throne supported by peacocks, and to symbolize the flawless Bodhicitta (enlightenment mind), on a lotus and moon cushion, from the heart of Amitayus (Infinite Life Buddha), the self-radiance of enlightened wisdom is non-dual with one's own mind. The heart essence is the syllable Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, seed syllable, meaning great compassion) with a long mark, a dot, and power, transforming into the symbol of Amitayus's perfect enlightened wisdom. The body color is like a red coral mountain, blazing with glory as if struck by the light of a thousand suns. To symbolize the non-duality of method and wisdom, the hands are in the meditation mudra, holding a vase filled with wisdom nectar, symbolizing the attainment of the supreme Vajra life. To symbolize the realization of the aggregate of discipline, draped with white and red upper and lower garments. To symbolize the realization of the six perfections, adorned with precious headdress, earrings, necklace, bracelets, anklets, and belt. The crown of the head, the white hair between the eyebrows, the wheel marks on the hands and feet, and other thirty-two major marks, the fingernails as red as copper, smooth, and other eighty minor marks are all perfectly complete. To symbolize reaching the ultimate Bodhi tree, seated in the Vajra posture. To symbolize the complete qualities of body, speech, and mind of all Buddhas, the forehead, throat, and heart are marked with white ༀ་ (Tibetan: ༀ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, homage, body), red ཨཱཿ (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: आः, Sanskrit Romanization: āḥ, speech), and blue ཧཱུཾ་ (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, mind). On top of that is the lineage lord Amitabha (Infinite Light Buddha), inseparable from the Guru, wearing the three Dharma robes, with the appearance of a supreme emanation body, holding a bowl filled with nectar, the master who bestows the immortal Vajra life, possessing inexhaustible compassion and blessings. To him, I pray: ༀ་བཛྲ་ཨ་ཡུ༴ (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, literal meaning in Chinese) and other mantras mean: By the power of body, speech, and mind, the Vajra life is free, shaking the life essence of gods, dragons, and humans, stabilizing the essence of the four elements of the vessel, completely purifying the wisdom life essence of those who are learning and not learning, may the foundation of everything be well established! By the power of such prayer, the hook-like rays of light from the heart of the lineage lord radiate in all ten directions, hooking back one's own scattered life force and all the essence of samsara and nirvana in the form of wisdom nectar, mixing with the nectar in the bowl held by the lineage lord, descending like a stream of oil onto the chakras of one's crown, throat, heart, and navel. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
