Homage to the Sugata: The Sound of the Great Drum of the Gods Om Svasti. Homage to the Sugata: The Melodious Sound of the Great Drum of the Gods. Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Your toenails, like the midday sun, with edges red like clouds, blaze beautifully with a thousand rays. The moving parts of the crowns of the supreme gods bow with reverence. With a sidelong glance, you, the god, worship the unopened blue lotus of faith, now newly blooming. May the rays of your compassion, which do not seek rain from a billion suns, protect my mind. The father of the world, the performer of a hundred sacrifices, the one who steals the light of the sun and moon. The great god Shiva, the blue-throated one, the white lotus-eyed one, the one who holds the moon as a crest jewel, and so forth. Even the guru of the terrifying ones serves your feet as a friend Na. I, too, am especially delighted to praise you Gyu. Emaho! Transcendent Lord, incomparable, majestic like Mount Meru, adorned with constellations of marks and signs. Boundless rays of light follow the sun and moon, surrounded by dense clouds of various arrangements. Here, the source of happiness for beings, enjoying hundreds of realms. Glorious one, who steals the decay of samsara and nirvana, an unprecedented land, with four rivers playing at the waist. In Jambudvipa (Earth), illuminating Jambudvipa, appearing like bees intoxicated in a golden lotus lake Zhi. Boundless rays of light, following the light, the form that appears without inherent existence Ku. The crest jewel, like the nature of space, never seen by others. The beautiful urna hair between the eyebrows, like snow-white silver, like moonlight spreading in a garden of snow mountains. The Victorious One, like the midday sun, the body like a young red sun rising from the edge of a cloud. The reddish-purple rays of the net of light from the lotus-sleeping feet steal the glory of the moon in the sky, falling on whose head. All of them stand like jewels on the earth, frightening even the heart of the lord of the heavenly city. Who would not respectfully serve the one who overthrows the banners of the flower-arrowed one and guides beings in the three realms? The incomparable body, adorned with a hundred merits, a lake of countless auspicious waters.

Your body, the nectar of the eyes of beings, beautiful, majestic, and overwhelming, is vast and boundless. In all realms, you play freely, accomplishing inconceivable great deeds. These deeds cannot be described by the example of your attained body; they are equal to the sky. Your body is like a mass of light, sometimes turning the realm of demons into darkness. Sometimes it is like the image of the autumn moon, and sometimes it makes the lotus of beings' minds bloom. Sometimes it is like the slow flow of a heavenly lake, and sometimes it renounces the river of desires. Sometimes it is like a rain of playful clouds, and sometimes it dries up the mud of afflictions. Your melodious voice is the nectar of the ears, possessing sixty qualities, the sound of Brahma. Although different beings understand differently, you attained enlightenment in the night. From then on, abiding in the realm of peace, until then, when words and letters were not spoken. If they are inconsistent and contradictory, is it not doubt? Your voice is not the voice of the four-faced Brahma, nor is it another distinction of the delightful playful voice. It is not the song of the supremely beautiful heavenly maiden, nor is it the playing of the Gandharva's lute. It is not the sound of the bees of Malaya, nor is it the deep thunder rumbling in the clouds. In any case, the melodious voice of the Buddha cannot be described by examples; it simply follows the beings to be tamed. The sound of Brahma and the gods' drums is not the protector who sinks underground. The joyful sound with a lasso is not the mountain that destroys the armies of demons. The tinkling of precious ornaments is not a mass of joyful clouds. The unconditioned sound of peace is not the enjoyment of the ears of the unfortunate. Although your mind has no object of focus, it carries the great burden of liberating beings from existence. Although you always abide in the realm of peace, you fill the world with various miracles. The protector is beyond all elaboration and expression, yet he teaches eighty-four thousand aspects of the Dharma. Although the movement of mind and mental events ceases, knowledge and the object of knowledge are not mixed, and he possesses inconceivable wisdom. When the Buddha is held to be characterized by signs, then you are seen as wrong. If it is held that there are no signs, then it is said that you are slandered again. If you hold both, then you enter a dark room. From this, infer and examine well, the Buddha is thought to be beyond thought. Where all elaboration is completely pacified, appearing as two
