The Wisdom That Dispels Obstacles of Rigpa (Awareness) Immaculate Abides. Praying that the pure clouds of benefit and happiness shower wisdom, I prostrate to the all-knowing chief of physicians. By the yogi who strikes the key point of clear light, I shall write the wisdom of rigpa that dispels obstacles. Now, when meditating on the meaning of the direct essence, the wisdom of one's own rigpa, the essence of the nature of compassion, by experiencing the resonance residing in the heart, rigpa, the unchanging reality, the inner sphere of awareness inseparable, abiding in the state of the spontaneously accomplished three kayas, is the unerring key point. In an instant, one goes to the primordial ground and abides in the empty-clear self-arisen wisdom. Furthermore, by restraining the posture of the body and the way of looking and meditating, some beginners become drowsy and the heat increases, causing them to fall into sleep and dullness. The wisdom of clear emptiness diminishes, and one becomes dull in ignorance. The method of dispelling drowsiness is to sit at the boundary of sunlight and shade, focus on the sensation of touch, raise the gaze and look. Occasionally, wash the face with cold water, and meditate in a high place with a wide open sky to awaken. Recite "Ha" and "Ah" frequently, and it is extremely important to hold the breath inward. Then, clear emptiness will arise, clear and unwavering. Also, if the mind is distracted even when looking at the light, hold the breath inward and look outward with the eyes. Focus the rigpa on one white A (Tibetan: ཨ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal meaning: A) that is clear and radiant in the heart. A clear, unobstructed awareness without attachment or aversion will arise. Sometimes, it is essential to meditate in the depths of the forest and in low, dark places. Also, when looking far into the sky, if the light is not seen and the eyesight is poor, by looking at the space between the eyebrows with a squint, various appearances will arise. By focusing on them and meditating, clear eyes and clear appearances are the supreme key point. Furthermore, if one sees proliferation in the experience of appearances and becomes attached to A (Tibetan: ཨ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal meaning: A), or if one becomes attached to the experience of emptiness, one should have faith in the view of indivisible union of form and wisdom. The point of slightly suppressing conceptual thoughts is said to be a sign of awakening the habits of higher realms, and looking at thoughts with thoughts and not escaping the web of conceptual thoughts are said to be signs of the habits of samsara. By keeping these reasons in mind, one can dispel them. Also, appearances

If you are attached to appearances, then determine that whatever appears is like a dream or an illusion. Practice diligently with the understanding that appearances are empty, devoid of reality, and utterly transparent. Ultimately, establish without error the absence of clinging and attachment. Practice diligently with the understanding that whatever appears is unreal and empty. Furthermore, merely looking at appearances only brings about a state of mind. If a decisive understanding of self-luminous emptiness does not arise on top of appearance-awareness, then one becomes attached. This is the fault of not knowing how to mix appearance and mind. Therefore, whatever appears, like an empty form, one's own appearances are unreal, transparent, without grasping, primordially empty, and rootless. Compare the meaning of various appearances of existence and non-existence, and practice diligently with the understanding that all external appearances are unreal and illusory. The mind that moves within is also like a flash, but without anything to grasp, determine it to be like a rainbow in the sky. That meditation of self-luminous mind-abiding is also like an appearance, practicing diligently in the self-radiance of awareness, the great self-abiding, all-liberating state. Without any clinging or attachment to anything, without any real clinging, believe that it is just an appearance of dreamlike delusion. In short, the essence of self-born wisdom, abiding in its own place, the intention that is like the sky, empty and clear, free from elaboration, arising from within, is to have power over the meaning of the Great Perfection. Without entering into dullness or excitement, clinging to extremes, effort or striving, acceptance or rejection, be aware, be clear, be valala, be yere, be lang lang, be pyam me, be khyab be, be brdal le. Even though you look at the external appearance of light with your eyes, there is no grasping of the mind. Even though you naturally abide in the inner abiding samadhi, it is not obscured by the experience of attachment. The outer, inner, and intermediate are all in a state of being flat and open like the sky, which is called abiding in the unmistaken view of the manifest heart essence. At that time, the mind together with the alaya consciousness, the mind together with the afflicted mind and consciousness, and the five gates separated from the individually clinging conceptual thoughts, do not waver from the samadhi of clear light wisdom, and without abandoning the form, is the secret of compassion. Moreover, because it is separated from the mind, the habitual tendencies of meditation are self-exhausted, and there is no karma to be born in the form realm. Because it is separated from the state of being one-pointed with thought, there is no end to being born in the formless realm. Because it is separated from the grasping of the grasper and the grasped with thought, there is no karma to be born in the desire realm. The impure earth, stones, mountains, rocks, etc., the five external mistaken seeing consciousnesses of the eye, etc., are self-extinguished and separated by looking at the clear light, so there is no birth in samsara.
