Thus, suchness itself and without elaboration, and extremely without elaboration, likewise utterly without elaboration. By means of these four distinctions, may the faithful ones ripen their own being. Thus it is said. Then, the teaching of the preliminaries is, from 'After the Past': Cultivate impermanence, compassion, bodhicitta. Thus it is said. The preliminary of the body is, from 'After the Past': For the sake of doing the preliminary of the body, practice the various conducts of the six realms. Also practice the conduct of the Three Jewels. Thus it is said. From 'The Decisive': Together with the vajra posture, taming the body is beneficial to the mind. Thus it is said. The preliminary of speech is, from 'After the Past': For the sake of doing the preliminary of speech, utter the various sounds of the six realms. The sounds of peace and wrath, and the sounds of arising, practice in various ways. Thus it is said. From 'The Decisive': Speech abides as Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽), sealing and cultivating strength, seeking relatives and placing them on the path, thus taming speech is beneficial to the mind. Thus it is said. Then, the preliminary of mind is, from 'After the Past': For the sake of doing the preliminary of mind, take the suffering of the six realms into the mind. Thus it is said. From 'The Decisive': The mind, the place where it first arises, the place where it abides in the middle, the place where it goes in the end, thus examining and analyzing the three, taming the mind is beneficial to the mind. Thus it is said. Then, the inner preliminary is, from 'After the Past': Because this body is produced by the cause of ignorance, the seeds of the six realms abide within it. Because awareness is the reality of the three bodies, the three bodies arise as three letters. Cultivate the power of the letters, distinguish the essence of the letters. Thus it is said. Then, taming the three, body, speech, and mind, is, from 'The Decisive': At this time, the key points of body, speech, and mind, the one endowed with yoga should tame well. Thus it is said. From 'After the Past': Then, these three, body, speech, and mind, should be skillfully tamed. Thus it is said. And again from the same: The Hearers, Bodhisattvas, and Wrathful Ones, by the very manner of looking, place them back in their place. By this, the three are restored, and one becomes diligent in practice. Thus it is said. Now, the main practice, the main practice that causes the uncontaminated wisdom to appear as the object of the senses, has three parts: First, abandoning the activities of the three, body, speech, and mind; second, seizing the key points of the three, body, speech, and mind; third, relying on the four key points, bringing the manifestation into one's own being. First, abandoning activities, from 'After the Past': Abandoning all outer and inner activities. Thus it is said. The body's

The essential point is: From "Transformation" it says, "The body is the three kayas, it should not constantly pass away." This is the essential point. The essential point of speech is: From the former it says, "Speech should be taught and abide, and repetition should be shown." This is the essential point. The essential point of mind is: Again from the former it says, "The mind is accomplished by entrusting it to the dharmadhatu." This is the essential point. Then, relying on the four essential points, to bring it manifestly upon oneself: First, the essential point of the door, from "After the Past" it says, "The essential point of the door, reverse, put down, look from the side." This is the essential point. The essential point of the place: From the former it says, "The essential point of the place, space is free from obstacles." This is the essential point. The essential point of the wind: Again from the former it says, "The essential point of the wind, learn to be very slow." This is the essential point. The essential point of awareness: From "After the Past" it says, "Imprison the stream of consciousness." This is the essential point. Afterwards there are three: the way the four appearances arise, the instructions on relying on the limit, and the extensive sealing of aspiration prayers. The way the four appearances arise: From "After the Past" it says, "With the manifest appearance of dharmata, eliminate the view of mental grasping, with the increasing experience, manifest the wisdom of the bardo, with the appearance of perfected awareness, recognize the sambhogakaya, with the appearance of the exhaustion of dharmata, attain the result of Atiyoga's freedom from effort. Having perfected these four in this way, nirvana is not to be sought elsewhere." This is the essential point. The four instructions on relying on the limit: Establish the foundation on the three that do not move, measure with the three that abide, nail down with the three that are attained, and complete with the four certainties. First, the three that do not move: From "Transformation" it says, "By establishing the foundation on the three that do not move, wind and mind will abide in their natural state." This is the essential point. The three that abide: From the former it says, "By measuring with the three that abide, dreams are reversed, body, speech, and mind, signs and degrees can be determined." The three that are attained: Again from the former it says, "By nailing down with the three that are attained, the contaminated aggregates will not appear." The four certainties: From "String of Pearls" it says, "The degree is the yoga of the four certainties." This is the essential point. Finally, concluding with aspiration prayers: Emaho! Of all the dharmas of the three vehicles and nine stages, there is not even a speck of dust that touches this meaning. The inner and outer secret bindus and the most secret cycles, among the many tantras and instructions, few have summarized and shown this meaning in essence. I, Padmasambhava, for the benefit of future generations, have distilled the essence of the tantras and instructions, the most secret meaning is gathered and manifested.
