Those who perform sacrifices involving the taking of life, will undoubtedly, due to their actions in this life, be born into the three lower realms and other unfavorable states, experiencing immeasurable suffering. Even though the pervasive suffering of conditioning may not be apparent in this present time, those hidden sufferings that will be difficult to bear in the future also exist. Those who still hope to be born in the realms of gods and humans are like foolish oxen who desire happiness but engage in the causes of suffering. Root Verse: The one who has lost mindfulness will fall from here again, Into the three lower realms and the gods without perception, Border regions, incomplete faculties, and wrong views, They wander in places where Buddhas do not appear. "Loss of mindfulness" refers to the arising of non-virtuous thoughts, without the ability to apply remedies to prevent them, and instead being led by external circumstances, acting with negative karma, which will certainly lead to the permanent loss of one's own happiness. Such people, when going from this life to the next, will fall into the three lower realms of hell, hungry ghosts, and animals, as well as the long-life gods, i.e., the formless realm. They will also be reborn in border regions or barbarian lands, where good and evil are reversed. If the three faculties of eye, ear, and tongue are deficient, then the faults of not seeing the Dharma, not hearing the Dharma, and not being able to speak will occur respectively. In terms of mental faculties, one may be unable to think properly due to madness, etc. Wrong view refers to denying that good and evil deeds bring about the results of happiness and suffering, thereby slandering cause and effect. "Where Buddhas do not appear" refers to the time of strife, when even if a teacher appears in the world, people's lifespans gradually decrease, and they are afflicted by disease, war, and famine, causing the Dharma to temporarily decline, or when the teachings of the thousand Buddhas have ended, and the dark age of the future arrives, those who cling to worldly existence. Root Verse: Not a moment of leisure, placed on burning iron ground, With harsh weapons, punishments are inflicted again and again, The hell beings, even when life is taken, do not die, Still bound by anger, they fall into the net of evil deeds. This refers to the first of the eight unfavorable conditions, which is hell. Hell is divided into eighteen types, including the eight hot hells, the eight cold hells, and the neighboring hells. Although they each suffer their respective torments, they cannot die because they have not exhausted the karmic results of being born in that realm, and they still harbor anger, falling again into the net of evil deeds.

Because they are trapped by things like snares, they cannot reach the state of liberation, so they do not have the leisure to practice Dharma. Ghosts are also divided into two types: those who dwell in the water and those who roam in the sky. In general, they are always afflicted by the suffering of hunger and thirst, so they do not have the leisure to practice Dharma. Animals also generally suffer from being shrouded in ignorance and the darkness of delusion, not knowing good and evil, and harming each other. In particular, those who live in the human realm are slaughtered, bled, and plucked of their feathers. They are used for carrying loads and riding. Horses and mules are fitted with reins, and yaks are fitted with nose rings and ropes. In short, because they can be used at will, their minds are filled with the suffering of physical torment, so they do not have the leisure to practice Dharma. Root text: They cannot even find pus, blood, or feces. The impoverished ghosts are miserable, what more needs to be said? Rivers and trees dry up as soon as they are looked at. The suffering of burning internal organs knows no end. Due to the power of obscurations, their lifespan is uncertain. Animals devour each other. Hunters cruelly set traps to take their lives. They are subjected to taming for the sake of being used, and thus suffer greatly. What is the use of being born in such a place? These points will be explained in more detail below when discussing the faults of samsara, and what has just been said is sufficient. Root text: They prolong their lives with extremely long livelihoods. The formless realms do not distinguish opportunities for rebirth, and the gods of the unconscious realm, who lack the basis for hearing and thinking, and who hold wrong views at the time of death, are not endowed with leisure. This also means that beings born in the formless realms, although they live long lives, do not have a physical basis that relies on the three roots, channels, and winds, so they do not have the opportunity to engage with knowledge, and therefore do not have leisure. Root text: Even though they rely well on the carriage of two legs, their consciousness is not virtuous. The barbarians who are bound and ruled wander in extreme confusion regarding what to accept and reject. This means that barbarians, although they walk on two legs and their aggregates, elements, and sense bases are similar to those of humans, all their thoughts, actions, and deeds are only unwholesome, so they do not have the leisure to practice Dharma. Root text: The mutes who have broken their vows of the senses, even if they meet noble guides, are like the cacophony emanating from a cave blocked by rocks, unable to understand each other's expressions.

Feeling sorrow for Og Min Great Temple. It means: being speechlessly mute, unable to understand the meaning of words, and being mindlessly mute, even associating with holy beings, being ignorant of what to accept and reject in terms of virtue and vice, thus being without leisure. Root: The great boat that crosses the ocean of birth, having obtained the waving banner of discriminating awareness, again, not being pleased with the appearance of the Buddhas, holding wrong views, being tormented by demons. It means: Some people possess form and enjoyment, and in a manner of being extremely intelligent, show others the gestures of benefiting, teaching, and preventing wrongdoing, but they are not pleased with the appearance of the Buddhas, and through scorn and contempt, they say that there are no results of good and bad actions, no happiness and suffering, and no future life, speaking like non-Buddhists, this is holding wrong views, turning their backs on virtuous actions, and therefore being without leisure. Root: In an age abandoned by the Buddhas, falling into a dark and gloomy abyss, even striving to rise up, it is a continuous non-path, going from lower to lower in a miserable fall. It means: As long as the teachings of the thousand Buddhas of the Fortunate Aeon remain, it is the Bright Aeon, and when the teachings decline, it is the Dark Aeon abandoned by the Buddhas, like a dark and gloomy abyss. Having been born and grown up there, entering the continuous non-path is like a person with a broken leg falling into a cliff at night, unable to escape upwards, being without leisure. Then, although it is not clearly stated in the root text of this treatise, the commentary says that at this time, even having obtained a human body, there are sixteen kinds of unfree states, as follows. As it says in the 'Wish-Fulfilling Jewel': The five poisons are in turmoil, foolish and ignorant, seized by demons, lazy, and the ocean of bad karma overflows. Being under the control of others, fearing protection, pretending to be Dharma, and sudden events cause eight kinds of unfree states. The path of liberation is not a vessel for Dharma, completely reversed.
