Wood. Furthermore, regarding the common meaning of refuge, it is that by relying on it, one will definitely and permanently be liberated from all suffering. However, in terms of the Mahayana, the meaning of refuge is that which possesses five protections, as it is said in the Ornament of the Sutras: "To protect from all harms, and from the bad destinies and wrong means, from the perishable aggregates and inferior vehicles, therefore it is considered the supreme refuge for protection." As it is said. This is the Three Jewels, and regarding this, there are two aspects: a general presentation and a detailed explanation from individual divisions. The first is: here, it is determined by six aspects. The nature of the Three Jewels is: commonly, as it is said in the commentary on the Treasury of Knowledge: "Faith is twofold, faith in the Dharma and faith in the individual." As it is said, it exists in both the sacred Dharma and the noble individual. Uncommonly, in the view of Buddhist insiders, it is held that the individual is merely imputed, therefore it is established by the Dharma and the nature of Dharma. Moreover, according to the Hinayana view, the Dharma path that leads to Buddhahood, which is encompassed by the truth of the path of no more learning, is established as the Buddha Jewel; the Dharma path that leads to the Sangha, which is encompassed by both the truth of the path of learning and the path of no more learning, is established as the Sangha Jewel; the excellence of the Dharma, which is the cessation of suffering, Nirvana, is established as the Dharma Jewel, therefore it exists in the Dharma. According to the Mahayana view, the nature of the Three Jewels seems to be established by both the conventional truth of phenomena and the ultimate truth of the nature of Dharma. The etymology is, as it is said in the Uttaratantra, combining the wish-fulfilling jewel with six similarities. To those in the world who have accumulated little merit, the appearance of the Three Jewels is rare; it is without the stain of obscuration; it possesses the power of immeasurable qualities such as clairvoyance; it is the cause of the increase of happiness and virtuous Dharma in the world, therefore it becomes an ornament; just as it surpasses jewels, straps, etc., the Three Jewels transcend the world, therefore it is supreme; because it is unconditioned in both temporary and ultimate states, it is unchanging, therefore it is called Jewel. The definition is: that which is encompassed by the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, the unsurpassed refuge for those who desire liberation, is the definition of the Three Jewels. The divisions are: the Buddha Jewel, the Dharma Jewel, and the Sangha Jewel. The fixed number is as it is said in the Uttaratantra: the teacher with the qualities of the Buddha.

The vehicle of Bodhisattvas strives to attain benefits, and for those with lofty minds who are inclined to serve the Buddha, the Buddha Jewel is established. The vehicle of Pratyekabuddhas seeks to naturally attain the qualities of the Dharma, and for those with lofty minds who are inclined to serve the Dharma, the Dharma Jewel is established. The vehicle of Shravakas strives to attain the qualities of the Sangha of disciples, and for those with lofty minds who are inclined to serve the Sangha, the Sangha Jewel is established. The order is determined as follows: the Buddha teaches the Dharma, from which arises the Sangha of noble learners, thus it is the order of cause and effect. Secondly, there are three explanations of the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha Jewels individually. First, regarding the Buddha Jewel, the essence is: a noble being who has perfected abandonment and realization. The etymology is: the term "Buddha" in Sanskrit has two meanings, awakening and increasing, that is, awakening from ignorance and increasing wisdom in the objects of knowledge. The definition is: possessing the six qualities of perfecting the two benefits. The six qualities are: the unconditioned, free from the three states of arising, ceasing, and abiding; spontaneously accomplished by pacifying all conceptual thoughts; the three that are knowable by self-arisen wisdom and not dependent on other conditions are the qualities of self-benefit; the three that are omniscient of all dharmas, loving to sentient beings, and capable of benefiting and bringing happiness are the qualities of benefiting others. The divisions are: the three Kayas as support, the five wisdoms as reliance, and the three effortless activities. First, the three Kayas as support are: the Dharmakaya, which is the wisdom free from elaboration and non-conceptual, possessing two purities, and completely perfecting the twenty-one qualities of the undefiled Dharma aggregate. The Sambhogakaya, which manifests residing in the palace of Akanishta, adorned with marks and signs, such as Vairochana and the Bodhisattvas of the ten bhumis, fully enjoying the Mahayana Dharma through the gate of the Dharmakaya, transcending the objects of arising and ceasing, is the constant wheel of continuity, possessing the five certainties. The Nirmanakaya, which appears as enlightenment according to the inclinations and capacities of all beings, appears as sentient beings as birth, and appears as inanimate objects performing benefits, these three are the Nirmanakaya. The five wisdoms as reliance are: the Dharmadhatu wisdom, which is the source from which the powers and other Buddha dharmas arise, the nature of completely purifying the two obscurations.

Intelligence. The realm of Dharma as the object, the self-nature of non-conceptual luminosity, is the Mirror-like Wisdom. Realizing self and other as equal is the Wisdom of Equality. Knowing all knowable things without obstruction and without confusion is the Discriminating Wisdom. Constantly and effortlessly accomplishing the benefit of all sentient beings, skillfully knowing various methods, is the Accomplishing Wisdom. These five also abide in the three wisdoms, that is, knowing equality as it is, knowing the discriminating and accomplishing as they are, and the Dharma realm mirror is the non-dual wisdom. Activity: Like a wish-fulfilling jewel, without conceptualization, free from effort, it constantly fulfills the wishes of beings and brings immeasurable benefit and happiness. Secondly, the essence is: the words and meanings that accomplish definite goodness. Etymology: Dharma (དྷརྨ་, धर्मा, dharma, meaning "law" or "phenomenon") means to hold, and here it means to hold the characteristics of the conventional arising and ceasing, and to hold the characteristics of the ultimate inexpressibility, hence it is called Dharma. Characteristics: Possessing the six qualities of the truth of purification. The six are: transcending the thoughts and expressions of the four extremes of logic, and being self-aware, hence it is without thought. Being free from both karma and affliction, hence it is without duality. All conceptualizations are pacified, hence it is without conceptualization, these three are the qualities of the cessation of suffering. Being able to purify all afflictions and near afflictions, being able to clarify knowable things, and being the antidote to the obscurations that see that very reality, these three are the qualities of the path. In terms of division, there are the Dharma of scripture and the Dharma of realization. The former includes the twelve branches of scripture and the three or seven baskets. The first is: after seeing the ten benefits, both words and meanings are summarized and spoken in prose or single lines, and divided into sections, which is the Sutra Pitaka, these ten benefits are: easy to establish, easy to explain, easy to grasp, with respect for the Dharma, quickly complete the accumulation of merit, quickly realize the nature of Dharma, gain faith after knowing the Buddha, gain faith after knowing the Dharma and the Sangha, touch the supreme of dwelling happily in the present Dharma, make a decision with excellent words, make the minds of the holy ones rejoice, and enter the ranks of the wise. Showing in verses in the middle and at the end, and upright
