A practical guide to making Tsatsas in connection with the Immaculate Uṣṇīṣa Dhāraṇī, called "Immaculate Illumination." Ocean of Qualities. A practical guide to making Tsatsas in connection with the Immaculate Uṣṇīṣa Dhāraṇī, called "Immaculate Illumination." Ocean of Qualities. A practical guide to making Tsatsas in connection with the Immaculate Uṣṇīṣa Dhāraṇī, called "Immaculate Illumination," is presented here. Homage to the Buddha. Even the tiniest drop of nectar from his speech cannot be created by all the supreme essences of the world. By the essence of the heart of the Buddha's speech, this wealth is bestowed upon those of meager intelligence but with faith. In the Immaculate Uṣṇīṣa Dhāraṇī, two rituals for making one hundred and eight and five stupas are described. From the force of stating the benefits of making a million, it is established that the ritual for making a thousand, etc., is also taught. To clearly understand its meaning, the method of making a hundred or a thousand, etc., in one mandala at a time is explained in detail. In any case, for one hundred and eight Tsatsas, the ritual requires the complete performance of long and short Dhāraṇīs and circumambulation of one hundred and eight rounds, including the preliminary, main, and concluding parts. This is the view of the scriptures and the practice of the Lamas. If one has great wealth, then for each complete ritual, one hundred and eight Tsatsas and offerings of the same amount should be arranged. By completing a thousand such rituals, one can accomplish a million stupas, with immeasurable benefits. In that case, the ritual leader needs about four monks, and the number of Dhāraṇīs and circumambulations should be counted from the beginning, which would be appropriate. If one has little wealth and cannot do that, then prepare a thousand Tsatsas and a hundred offerings, etc., and have ten monks perform the ritual. By completing hundreds of rituals, one can accomplish a hundred thousand stupas. In that case, it is difficult for each person to complete one hundred and eight recitations of the Dhāraṇī and circumambulations in each ritual, so if each person does eleven times, a total of one hundred and ten times will be completed, which is also acceptable. The intermediate parts can be completed by analogy. If one has very little wealth and cannot complete many rituals, but wants to make many Tsatsas, then arrange as many Tsatsas as possible on many lotus seats in a spacious place. Also, prepare as many offerings as possible and invite as many monks as possible to perform the ritual. In this way, complete the Tsatsas by performing as many rituals as possible in one day or three days, etc. The benefits of doing so are much greater than not performing the ritual at all.

The difference is very large, and there is no fault if one cannot afford it due to poverty. Regarding the number of times to perform it, the arrangements, etc., one must not be mistaken about which of the elaborate or concise methods described below to follow. Thus, first distinguishing the differences between the elaborate and concise methods in general, then specifically explaining the actual practice in four parts: the steps for making clay images, the arrangement for mandala offerings, the manner of performing the elaborate and concise rituals, and the way to remain afterward. First, regarding the material for the clay image, at the place from which to take the clay, arrange white torma and golden drink. Bless it with the pride of being Vajradhara and recite the offering words, either elaborately or concisely as appropriate. Cut a square at the edge of the area from which the clay needs to be taken, using a thread of five intertwined colors, and recite: OM VAJRA SUTRA HUM PHAT (Tibetan, Devanagari: , Romanized Sanskrit: , Literal meaning: ). Recite three times. Separate all the spirits, demons, evil thoughts dwelling on the ground, and those who obstruct stupas and virtuous deeds, with a vajra fence. May this ground become the nature of various precious materials for the stupa. Plant five eight-finger-long sandalwood pegs in the center and at the four corners of the line. If one cannot afford it, make the gesture of planting pegs and finally plant one in the center. Recite: OM VAJRA KILI KILAYA SARVA DUSHTAN HUM PHAT (Tibetan, Devanagari: , Romanized Sanskrit: , Literal meaning: ). Recite seven times. Do not move the line and pegs until the required amount of clay has been taken. Then, on sesame and mustard seeds, recite: OM AMRITE HANA HANA HUM PHAT (Tibetan, Devanagari: , Romanized Sanskrit: , Literal meaning: ). Recite seven times and scatter them, dispelling all obstacles, and may this direction of the earth become an immeasurable abode where the Tathagatas reside. Recite a short dharani and bless it. Then, recite: OM VAJRA KHANA KHANA HUM PHAT (Tibetan, Devanagari: , Romanized Sanskrit: , Literal meaning: ), while digging the earth. By digging up the five precious earths, may it become the material for the pure body of the Tathagata. Recite this, and also direct your mind to other objectives. Pile the clean earth that has been taken in a clean place, and strike it with a hammer while holding the three-pointed vajra mudra, reciting: OM VAJRA MUNGGARA AKOTAYA AKOTAYA HUM PHAT (Tibetan, Devanagari: , Romanized Sanskrit: , Literal meaning: ). Recite seven times, etc. May the defilements and habitual tendencies be purified and destroyed. The method of kneading the clay is: mix clean, fragrant water with incense, and touch it with the vajra mudra. Above the incense water, from the letter A transforms into a moon disc, radiating light, and the water becomes the nature of nectar. OM A

Mri te hum phat. After blessing it seven times, knead the clay. Recite "Om Vajra Pramardana Ya Hum Phat" (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) and the Dependent Arising mantra. May the clay become the body of the Tathagata. Then, blessing the clay: Om Shuddhe Nadu Shodhaya Svaha. On a lotus moon disc, the clay becomes a pile of jewels. The rays of light from one's own heart shine to Akanishta, arousing the mindstream of Vairochana. From that, light radiates, purifying the afflictions of sentient beings. Re-gathering and dissolving into the clay pile, it becomes the wisdom nature of all Sugatas. The little finger of the left hand presses the thumb upwards, and the right hand does the same, with the palms facing down, placing the clay in between. Recite: Namo Bhagavate Vairocana Prabha Rajaya, Tathagataya, Arhate Samyaksambuddhaya, Tadyatha, Om Sushme Sushme, Same Samaye, Shante Dante, Asama Rope, Analampe, Tarambe, Ashobati Mahateja, Nirkule, Nirvana, Sarva Buddha Adhisthana Adhisthite Svaha. Recite the long mantra of Vairochana twenty-one times, and Om Jina Jik Svaha (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) twenty-one times. Recite as many short mantras as possible. Cut the clay, recite: Namah Samanta Buddhanam, Om Vajra Ayushe Svaha (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning). May I obtain the life force of the immortal Vajra. Make small pills, recite: Om Vajrodbhava Ya Svaha (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning). Light radiates throughout the world, benefiting sentient beings. Re-gathering, the pills are as pure as crystal, becoming the nature of wisdom Vajra arising. Apply oil to the carved mold, recite: Om Araje Viraje Svaha (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning). Method and wisdom united, wisdom free from dust. Place it in the carved mold, recite: Om Vajradhatu Garbhe Svaha (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning), and Om Dharmadhatu Garbhe Svaha (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning). May I obtain the essence of the eternal Dharmadhatu. Press it in well, recite: Om Vajra Mungara Akotaya Akotaya Hum Phat (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning). May it be sealed with the seal of all Buddhas. Roll up the mantra, insert it without reversing the beginning and end, recite: Om Vajra Garbhe Svaha (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning), Om Sarva Vidya Svaha (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning), and also recite short mantras. The Dharmakaya stupa, inseparable from the sphere of wisdom, may I comprehend the boundless essence of wisdom. Take it out, recite: Om Dharma Rate Svaha (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning). From the Dharmakaya, countless Rupakayas arise, may they benefit sentient beings as long as samsara exists. After it is completely dry, visualize adorning it with Dharma wheels, etc., recite: Om Pramanaya.
