The light of the sun and moon pervades the earth, I prostrate and praise you, the lord of the wise. 4. Having crossed to the far shore of the ocean of self and other tenets, you opened the path of the chariot of the union of view and mind. You are renowned in the sacred land like the sun and moon. I prostrate and praise you, the one ornament of the teachings. 5. In the darkness of the snowy land, the supreme Buddha's teachings, you were the first to open the great door of light. You proclaimed the victory banner of valid scriptures and reasoning. I prostrate and praise you, the great abbot, the king of Dharma. 6. Having resided for nine hundred years, in sacred lands, China, the snowy lands, and so on, you have raised the victory banner of the teachings in all ten directions. I prostrate and praise you, the king of the upholders of the teachings. 7. With the wondrous mind of enlightenment and the ocean of aspirations, and with various skillful manifestations, you spread virtuous activities throughout the earth. I prostrate and praise you, whose kindness is unmatched. 8. Although you have become the master of power and strength, you are filled with loving-kindness. Although you are filled with the ocean of qualities, you are without pride and are peaceful. Although you have perfected the secret mantra stages and paths, you maintain the conduct of a renunciate. I prostrate and praise you, who guide the inferior ones. 9. As long as the Buddha's teachings remain in this land of Tibet, incarnate upholders of the teachings will repeatedly appear, and you have promised to work for the benefit of the teachings. I prostrate and praise you, the protector of the snowy lands. 10. By meditating on your form, the power of the teachings will increase. Pure morality, samadhi, and wisdom will increase. Ultimately, it is said that one will become the king of Vajradhara. I prostrate and praise you, the treasure of immeasurable compassion. 11. In the degenerate age, when the Buddha's teachings decline and those who follow the teachings are extremely distressed, remembering you will bring protection. I remember your promise, compassionate one. 12. Nowadays, beings are afflicted by the five degenerations, it is difficult to find the object of correct view, and they are deprived of the nectar of morality and samadhi. The forces that harm the teachings are very strong. 13. Like the evening of a rainy season when everything is complete, in this sad time, no matter what I think, Vajradhara, the powerful lord of all Buddhas, protector, please do not forget your vows. 14. May the teaching and practice of the Tripitaka and Tantras flourish, may the yoga of the three trainings and the two stages increase, may the authority of the scriptural and realized teachings

May virtue and goodness increase! The Praise to the Great Dharma King, called "Snow Mountain Mother," resides here. In order to tame the beings of the snowy land with skillful means, The supreme prince, the venerable Manjushri, Appearing beautifully as the king of Tibet, I prostrate and praise at the feet of Trisong Detsen. 1 Like the sun and moon paired, the abbot and master, As well as the Indian pandits and Tibetan translators, The source of benefit and happiness for the snowy land, emanated beings, I prostrate and praise to the one who gathers many qualities. 2 The fields of knowledge, sutras, tantras, and treatises, Unmistakenly translated, edited, and established, Raising high the victory banner of teaching and practice, I prostrate and praise to you, the great sovereign. 3 Subduing the kingdoms of the four borders with power, The monasteries and the supports of body, speech, and mind, Establishing in Tibet the two communities holding sutra and tantra, I prostrate and praise to you, who govern Tibet. 4 Protecting both dharma and politics with various skillful means, The strict decrees and excellent traditions placing the kingdom in happiness, The sovereign, called "Brahma's Divine Flower," Whose fame pervades the earth, I prostrate and praise. 5 Manifesting the accomplishment of the great supreme nectar, Samadhi unmoving, perfecting the great power of intention, Spreading treatises of valid cognition and other excellent teachings, I prostrate and praise to you, the king of dharma. 6 More rare than even the deeds of the Buddhas, the secret mantra, All the scriptures and their instructions, Making this land of Bhota like Oddiyana, I prostrate and praise to you, the creator. 7 The dakinis of space widely spreading the profound secret dharma, The three inner tantras difficult for anyone to find, The wish-fulfilling jewel treasure taken by the accomplished ones, Establishing it in this land, I prostrate and praise. 8 In this cool, white, snow-mountain-surrounded region, The teachings of the Buddhas and the community holding them, Whatever has arisen is due to the kindness of you, protector,

To you, with unparalleled kindness, I prostrate and praise. 9. Until the Buddha's teachings remain, through various emanations, you spread the Buddha's teachings, and benefit and bring happiness to the land of snows. To you, with incomparable aspiration, I prostrate and praise. 10. We, the people dwelling in the midst of the snowy mountains, even hearing the sound of the precious Dharma of the Buddha's teachings, is due to your kindness. Who with intelligence would not respect you? 11. Therefore, with unwavering faith and devotion, I praise and prostrate to you, Protector. By your past aspiration and great vows, please hold us, bless us with your grace. 12. May the Buddhas of the ten directions empower and prophesy, and by the powerful aspiration of Avalokiteśvara, according to the wishes of the king who is an emanation of Mañjuśrī, may the Buddha's teachings endure forever. 13. May you completely hold all limitless beings with compassion, and as long as space exists, may you act for the benefit of others. May I become like you, Protector, the crown jewel of all courageous bodhisattvas. 14. It is said that these verses are the words of the great Dharma King himself. Through the power of praise and prayer, may disease, poverty, and conflict be pacified in the place where I and others dwell, and may Dharma and auspiciousness increase. 15. By the aspirations of the Buddhas and their sons, and by the power of our pure and virtuous devotion, may the aspiration and teachings of the sovereign Dharma King Trisong Detsen ultimately flourish and be auspicious. 16. These sixteen verses were composed by Mipham Jamyang Gyatso on the twenty-seventh day of the eighth month of the Fire Horse year. May virtue and goodness increase. May the root of bodhicitta be well grasped, and in order to strive for the supreme fruit of enlightenment, may the ocean of bodhi manifest and spread virtuous deeds.
