A concise supplement to the field practice notes. A concise supplement to the field practice notes. A concise supplement to the field practice notes is presented. Namo Amitabhaya! The preparations for the field practice recitation, etc., are according to the notes, with elaborate, intermediate, and concise versions. For the preparations for oneself, others, and the deceased, there are elaborate, intermediate, and concise versions. The elaborate version involves setting up a field arrangement thangka. On the offering table, place a statue in the center of an eight-petaled grain mandala. To the right, place a vase of victory filled with substances and complete with ornaments. To the left, place a karma vase, and in front, a round torma with ornaments. In front of that, place three tormas of medicine, alcohol, and food, as well as a field-protecting torma. Display embossed auspicious substances, symbols, and the seven royal emblems, or alternatively, a clay image. Decorate beautifully by arranging or erecting offerings from the top, whichever is convenient. Finally, arrange the seven offerings around it. The intermediate version involves placing a clay image of Amitabha on top of a round torma. Two vases, three tormas of medicine, alcohol, and food, and the arrangement of the seven offerings are sufficient. The concise version involves generating the front manifestation support, filling a precious vessel with grains, and placing a vajra. Arrange whatever vases and tormas are available. Initially, the preliminary practice involves setting up a low table. Starting with the precious vessel, recite "kha hi sum" and "gtsa gtsa" and discard them outside. Recite "Namo refuge in the Three Jewels," etc., and in the intervals of reciting the Amitabha practice liturgy, visualize oneself as white Avalokiteshvara. One face, four arms, the first two hands joined in prayer. The lower ones holding a crystal rosary and a white lotus. A topknot adorned with silk and precious ornaments. The lower body seated in the vajra posture on a self-arisen lotus. In the heart, in front, as if generating. The Amitabha Buddha, the main figure and the three attendants, and the Sukhavati field arrangement are completely clear. On the moon disc in the heart of the main figure, there is the syllable HRIH (藏文:ཧྲཱིཿ,梵文天城体:ह्रीः,梵文罗马拟音:hrīḥ,汉语字面意思:舍), surrounded by the mantra garland of Amitabha revolving to the right. From that, rays of light of various colors. Emanate from the urna, spreading to fill the sky. Offering to all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions. Gathering the blessings of the Buddhas, dissolving into oneself. Purifying the sins and obscurations of all sentient beings. Becoming fortunate to be born in Sukhavati. The external place, the outer vessel, becomes the Sukhavati field. The inner essence, sentient beings, becomes the form of Amitabha. May it be accomplished. By proclaiming the sound of mantra, may samsara be uprooted from its depths. May all sentient beings, with form and without form, attain the state of Limitless Light. Oṃ Amitābha Hrīḥ (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ཨ་མི་དྷེ་ཝ་ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओṃ अमिताभ ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ amitābha hrīḥ, Literal Chinese Meaning: Om, Immeasurable Light, Hrih) Recite a hundred times or more. From the radiant light of the mantra garland at my heart, the red syllable Hrīḥ (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Literal Chinese Meaning: Hrih) emerges like a string of coral beads, coming forth from my mouth and residing in the mouth of the Front Generation. Absorbing into the mantra garland at my heart, it stimulates the mindstream of the Front Generation. From that, a string of red Hrīḥ (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Literal Chinese Meaning: Hrih) syllables arises, emerging from the navel and absorbing into my own navel. Absorbing into the heart, blessings and accomplishments are attained. Revolving like a wheel of firebrands, as it revolves, various rays of light radiate to the Western Pure Land of Bliss. Absorbing into the body of Buddha Amitābha, it becomes an offering that pleases body, speech, and mind. From the body, emanate large and small forms of Buddha Amitābha. From the speech, emanate mantra garlands and the red syllable Hrīḥ (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Literal Chinese Meaning: Hrih). From the mind, emanates a red five-pronged vajra. Descending like a blizzard of snowflakes, it gently absorbs into myself and the Front Generation. Recite Hrīḥ (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Literal Chinese Meaning: Hrih) a hundred times or more. Then, for myself, the Front Generation, and the vase, the Front Generation and the vase generation are in the heart. On the moon disc, the red Hrīḥ (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Literal Chinese Meaning: Hrih) is surrounded by mantras. The mantra garland at my heart radiates light. The Front Generation absorbs, stimulating the mindstream of the Front Generation. The mantra revolves clockwise, and various rays of light fill the vase. Recite the long mantra as much as possible. In the action vase, within the action vase is red Hayagriva, holding a skull staff and a lasso, residing in a throwing posture. From his body, a stream of amrita descends, filling the vase with amrita. Oṃ Hayagrīva Hūṃ Phaṭ (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ཧ་ཡ་གྲཱི་ཝ་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओṃ हयग्रीव हुṃ फट्, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ hayagrīva hūṃ phaṭ, Literal Chinese Meaning: Om, Hayagriva, Hum, Phat) Recite twenty-one times or seven times, etc. Then, recite the extensive Sukhavati Aspiration Prayer, or the Prajñāpāramitā in Brief, or the Bhadracarya Pranidhana, or the Aspiration of Good Actions; if all are available, recite them, if not, recite them in turns. Such a concise ritual is sufficient for one session. A solitary ritual is for one's own practice. For others, it is necessary to have the self-generation deity, the Front Generation, and all three vases, as well as a complete Sukhavati Aspiration Prayer. The ritual, life-extension invocation, and mantras, etc., should be completed once tonight. It is not necessary for the deceased. If performing a ritual for the living, performing a life-extension ritual, then the life-extension dharani and empowerment substances are needed, like an empowerment; if the Sukhavati Aspiration Prayer is not completed, it is not necessary. This was composed by Nedö Dechen (Tibetan place name, meaning Great Bliss Place). A supplementary ritual for the Tenchö Dechen Pure Land Practice.
