First, the limb of entering virtue is shown. First, the limb of entering virtue is shown. The second part has three points: First, the limb of entering virtue is shown, in the middle, the text itself of the virtue to be entered is explained, and finally, the greatness of the virtue text is stated. The first part has two points: To generate faith, offering is expressed, and the need for composing the treatise is shown. The first part has three things: need, summary, and meaning of words. The first is: The author himself realizes the sacred, so others will enter the treatise made by him, and because the ultimate result, the three bodies and activities, is shown, others will enter the treatise that shows its cause as the subject, and when followers explain and listen, they recite the verses of offering and praise, so the obstacles of those are pacified and the accumulations are completed, these are the three needs. The second part has two: praise and prostration. The first part has two: self-benefit and other-benefit. The first is the three bodies. The third is: directly saying prostration. To whom? To the Buddha who is perfect with two benefits. What are the two benefits? Self-benefit is the dharmakaya, which is the nature of eliminating the net of thoughts that cling to self and what belongs to self, or cling to what is grasped and what grasps, by the power of the antidote, completely and without rebirth; and the sambhogakaya, which resides only in Akanishta and teaches only the Mahayana Dharma to the bodhisattvas of the tenth bhumi, is profound; and the nirmanakaya, which shows the form that tames whatever is appropriate to all three types of beings, is vast, that is, possessing the three bodies. The two "and" are جمع words. Other-benefit is that Samantabhadra is manifest high and definitely good, and he makes the rays of the sacred Dharma that teach these shine completely. Or, in the manner of "Samantabhadra is an unparalleled great sage," Samantabhadra is the Buddha, and in the manner of "with the body that radiates the rays of various sacred Dharmas," his rays are his sacred Dharma, and making them radiate is because it is related to the rays, it is an ornament with form. Some Indians also have explanations related to the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra, but the former is in accordance with the meaning. In the second part, most of the former use the first three verses to express other-benefit.

The cause of composing treatises. Fourthly, it is unreasonable to say that the cause of composing treatises for one's own benefit is explained. In the Pramāṇavārttika it is said: 'Whoever the noble one himself has come to, that is the glorious one with immaculate wisdom. The foolish wisdom of the world does not clearly know the firmness of his words. Even if, being deluded, they slightly disparage the one who closely attends to and expands the world, it will give rise to meaninglessness, so out of love, clarify his system.' Thus, it is said that treatises are composed for the benefit of others. Since the Pramāṇavārttika was composed for the benefit of others, the difference that the Pramāṇavārttika Commentary is not composed for the benefit of others is something that no one can do. Therefore, this has two necessities: the necessity for the benefit of others and the necessity for one's own benefit. The first has three aspects: directly showing that there is no direct benefit to those who possess the faults of a vessel; indirectly showing that there is also indirect benefit to them; and showing that, by the power of 'also,' there is direct benefit to those who possess the qualities of a vessel. The first is: Dharmakīrti, we do not think that this teaching is directly beneficial to other listeners, that is, to those who possess the three faults of a vessel. Because most listeners are attached to ordinary treatises such as those of outsiders, and do not have the intellectual capacity to understand good explanations, therefore they have the fault of not possessing wisdom; they do not seek the meaning of good explanations, therefore they have the fault of not seeking meaning; and not only that, but they also hate the author of good explanations because of the stain of jealousy, therefore they have the fault of not being impartial, and they are completely possessed of these three faults. The second is: There will also be indirect benefit to them, because when the mind is well trained and the three faults of a vessel are abandoned, there will be direct benefit. This is also known from the fact that the Pramāṇavārttika was composed to eliminate the stain of jealousy. The third is: This teaching will be directly beneficial to listeners who possess the three qualities of a vessel, because some listeners are not attached to ordinary treatises and have intellectual capacity, therefore they have the quality of possessing wisdom; they seek the meaning of good explanations, therefore they have the quality of seeking meaning; and not only that, but they do not hate the author of good explanations because of the stain of jealousy, therefore they have the quality of being impartial, that is, the three qualities of the listener.
