(1) The Summary Root Verses of the Great Seal Co-emergent Union Instructions. (2) Homage to Mahāmudrā! For those who teach the Great Seal Co-emergent Union, there are three aspects: preliminaries, main practice, and subsequent activities. The preliminaries also have common and uncommon aspects. The special preliminaries are of three types. First, contemplate the four thoughts that turn the mind: the difficulty of finding leisure and endowments, impermanence, the law of karma, and the faults of samsara. The first contemplation is: This precious human body with leisure and endowments is difficult to obtain and easy to lose; now is the time to make it meaningful. Second, all outer and inner phenomena are impermanent, and the precious life that is needed is like a water bubble. There is no certainty when death will come; when death comes, one becomes a corpse. Therefore, strive to practice Dharma for its benefit. Third, at the time of death, one has no independence; karma is one's master. Therefore, abandon evil deeds and always engage in virtuous actions. Fourth, the places, friends, happiness, and wealth of samsara are constantly tormented by the three kinds of suffering. Like a feast for the executioner who leads one to the slaughterhouse, cut off attachment and a renunciate should practice enlightenment. The uncommon preliminaries are refuge and bodhicitta (3), Vajrasattva, mandala, and guru yoga recitation, these four. First, clearly visualize the assembly of deities in the refuge field. In front, imagine yourself and all mother sentient beings. Take refuge with the intention of taking refuge. Cultivate the four immeasurables and generate bodhicitta from the heart. Second, visualize Vajrasattva with mantra on the crown of your head. By confessing and taking vows, a stream of nectar descends, dissolving into your body, purifying all sins and obscurations. Recite the hundred-syllable mantra, and signs of purification will appear. Third, in the five heaps of practice, generate the five families of Buddhas and offer the mandala. By offering actual wealth and visualized transformations, offer countless offerings, and gradually the signs of perfecting the two accumulations will appear. Fourth, visualize the guru on the crown of your head, and with strong devotion, pray and receive the four empowerments. By serving the guru with the five ways of pleasing him, signs of the guru's compassionate blessings entering you will appear. During the conclusion of the session, the refuge field, Vajrasattva, the mandala deity assembly of the practice, and the gurus dissolve into light and merge into you, (4) contemplate that you are inseparable from their body, speech, and mind. In particular, the preliminary without attachment is the causal condition, being seized by the four gurus is the lord condition, and the object of focus is the object of contemplation.

Without error. Immediately after that, abandon obstacles such as hope and fear, Without negating or affirming, abide in whatever arises. The main content is the two aspects of tranquility and insight. First, there are the physical posture and the mental posture; the physical posture is, To perfectly establish the seven-point posture of meditation without error. The mental posture is divided into general and specific; generally, Cut off the elaborations of the three times, and abide in the nature of whatever arises. Specifically, there are three: taking what has not been taken, Stabilizing what has been taken, and enhancing what has been stabilized. First, practice with object, without object, and with wind. The object is further divided into outer and inner; the outer can be summarized into impure and pure. The impure includes crystals, walls, butter lamps, etc. The pure is to focus on the body of the Tathagata. The faults of dullness and agitation are also eliminated by the way of looking. The inner is to focus on the guru or yidam, etc. Its essence is a sphere of light, visualize it in the center of your heart. The non-object is to visualize the four elements merging, abiding in emptiness. The third is to observe the wind, focusing on the number of vase breaths. Stabilizing what has been taken, visualize a lotus in the heart, There are black and white, and the bindus are also black and white. According to dullness and agitation, practice accordingly, or, Continuously alternate the practice. Or, there are abiding and universal abiding, correct abiding, Near abiding and taming, extreme tranquility, Taming and equanimity, the nine methods of abiding. Enhancing what has been stabilized, with the six sense objects individually, And whatever arises from the mind's object, whether virtuous or non-virtuous, Without negating or affirming, focus on them separately. Short sessions, many times, strive to relax (5). There is a catalog of removing obstacles and increasing merits. The second is insight, which is to observe the nature of the mind, The four fundamental cuts, and establishing clarity and emptiness. First, abiding and moving, these two individually, The nature of the mind, color, shape, etc., Where it abides, where it goes, what are the three of arising, ceasing, and abiding? Thus, well determine its nature. Second, observe its color, shape, etc., How it abides, how it appears. The observer himself must also be well investigated. The two of abiding and moving, also distinguish whether they are one or different. Comprehensive search, individual observation, detailed analysis, The attachment relationship of tranquility and insight, clear and non-conceptual, Abandonment, continuous and non-distraction, Enhance merit through the eleven ways of attention. Third, this ordinary naked awareness, Because there is no recognizable characteristic, it is introduced as emptiness. At this time, ask questions.
