104 104 Furthermore, if you, venerable one, have attained the firm ground of the innate state, then all the illusory appearances arising from negative thoughts and other conceptual delusions will be realized as baseless and utterly eradicated delusions. At that time, although there remains the residue of the unfailing cause and effect that must be experienced, the illusory appearances of hell and the like will not be experienced intensely for long, but will occur only briefly, like being struck with a silk cloth. As the teacher Toktsepa said: "Relying on this wisdom, it is the appearance of negative imprints. Even if one may be born in hells, hell itself is also a realm of bliss." The meaning of this is that for a realized yogi, being tormented and trained by the suffering of being busy and impoverished while living with family such as wives and children, and the occurrence of various sufferings such as illness, pain, and bad words, is because one has not yet been liberated from the bonds of the coarse body and mind of maturation. The fruits of past negative actions are unfailing, and although they are experienced as mere illusions and dreams, the innate mind, from beginningless time, has been accompanied by suffering, continuously without interruption, yet has never been stained by suffering even for a moment. This itself is manifested here, thereby accomplishing the state of permanent bliss. Therefore, the realized yogi has no fear or apprehension that these temporary sufferings of karma and afflictions will become obstacles to higher realms and definite goodness. Instead, he treats all the joys and sorrows of samsara as equal, as manifestations of illusions and dreams, and trains in them, thereby transforming all phenomena into illusion-like samadhi, and completely purifying the illusion-like realms, bodies, and enjoyments. Therefore, even the painful hell becomes Akanishta, the realm of bliss. This is his intention. Also, one day, while in a state of clear stillness in meditation, I went to a cliff and thought it was a dream, so I asked (the venerable one) to jump off the cliff. You, venerable one, said: "First, the appearance becomes vague and unclear. Second, it is perfected in the state of luminosity. Third, one gains mastery over it, so there is no need to modify any of it, and one will not fall into the abyss." The meaning of this is that the clear stillness at the time of going to the cliff is the innate mind. The body on which that mind relies has no clarity, obscurity, birth, or death, so it will not be burned by fire.

, nor will it fall into the abyss. When it is about to manifest, first, this coarse body and mind of ripening will not be aimlessly dull and confused, unable to be an object. Then, the pure and clear light of one's own mind will proceed as a path into vastness. After that, even if one passes through such a rock, one will not fall into the abyss. Even if one walks in the sky, one will have the power to walk as if one were walking on the ground as one wishes. Furthermore, the Lord Drikungpa said: "All the appearances of the body, the place and meaning of samsara and nirvana, are formed only by the momentary changes of the self-nature of the pure and impure mind. The momentary actions of the mind, whether virtuous or non-virtuous, cause the appearance of the happiness and suffering of samsara and nirvana, and the various appearances of the six realms of beings.
