93 93 To explain the meaning of such teachings, in terms of mere convention, the mind that appears with obscurations and is suddenly afflicted with defilements, possesses within itself a mind that is free from obscurations, naturally pure, and untainted. This is like a jewel in the body of a giant or a treasure in the home of a poor person. Even in terms of mere convention, one's own mind is the essence of the Buddha, free from all delusions, and the mind itself is not inverted. However, due to false delusions, it is dominated by inverted appearances, becoming the non-truly conceptualizing mind and mental factors of the three realms of samsara. These minds face outward, clinging to objects, and inwardly cling to subjects, bound by the chains of grasping and being grasped. Thus, one's own mind becomes obscured and deluded. Due to this influence, beings are also bound to the extremes of samsara and nirvana, becoming bound ones. One's own mind is the essence of the Buddha, its nature being free from obscurations and immutable. When it is free from the entanglement of grasping and being grasped, which arises from non-truly conceptualizing minds, one's own mind becomes purified as the Dharmakaya and possesses liberation. Due to this influence, beings also attain the state of Buddhahood, fully and perfectly enlightened in all aspects of all phenomena, and manifest the peaceful nirvana of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, transcending the ocean of samsara. As it is said: "Find the Buddha within your own mind; there is no need to seek the Buddha elsewhere. The Buddha that is within you is manifested through the kindness of the Lama." Thus it is said. Therefore, one's own mind is the essence of the Buddha. When it is free from the defilements of inverted conceptualizations of grasping and being grasped, the method and wisdom for manifesting one's own mind as the essence of the Buddha, as taught by a noble Lama who has manifested it, are like this. By practicing in this way, although the essence of the Buddha, which is to be manifested in one's own mind, is not established as being independently non-deluded from the mind, in terms of the very nature of delusion, due to delusion itself, the mind, non-truly conceptualizing, the deluded mind that can be separated from the original mind, when separated from delusion itself, that deluded mind will also be completely pacified without any remainder, just as when water that has turned into ice melts into the ocean, the ice does not remain. The deluded mind, the non-deluded

When I am thus purified in the realm of the mind of clear light, since the deluded mind does not remain as an additional substance on top of the non-deluded mind, therefore, the two minds, impure and pure, will not simultaneously abide freely. Thus, when delusion is purified, all the appearances and awarenesses of the deluded mind itself, which are directed outwardly and inwardly, will also not be able to be regarded as established apart from the essential mind of the primordial Buddha. When the very nature of the deluded mind has become self-liberated, all the actual appearances of the deluded phenomena, which are particularly imputed by it, will also naturally subside, just as when snow falls on water and melts into water, the element of snow no longer appears. So, when the very nature of the deluded mind and all the imputations of its distinguishing exaggerations are completely pacified, will the six consciousnesses with grasping and the grasped, together with their objects, be established and appear in their own place as self-validating, unblocked, and radiantly clear? If the deluded mind is purified in the dharmata or dharmadhatu of the non-deluded mind, then all the appearances of the six consciousnesses, which are the deluded aspects of that mind itself, will not remain established and radiantly clear as being true in their own place. Because the very mind that conceives of it as self-validating, the self-validation that is not established by delusion itself is pacified, and after manifesting that very pacification as it is, the deluded mind itself also subsides into the dharmadhatu, then how can all the appearances of the deluded aspects imputed by it remain in self-validation? Just as clouds and rainbows form in unobstructed space and have no place to stay, they will naturally vanish. So, when the appearances of the deluded aspects of the six consciousnesses of one's own mind appear to oneself as if they were self-validating and non-deluded, and are purified in the dharmadhatu of the primordial non-deluded mind, even though one's own mind does not become deluded, do the appearances of the eight or six consciousnesses, etc., which are imputed by the deluded and non-deluded minds of oneself and others, appear, know, and see to the essential mind of the primordial Buddha? The six consciousnesses of others' minds, together with their objects, which are imputed by delusion and non-delusion, are not unknown or incomprehensible to the wisdom of the essential mind of the Buddha, one's own mind.
