This is well-proclaimed by ..., hence it is known in the Kagyu lineage. Moreover, nowadays, regarding the way to realize the profound emptiness, such pitfalls also appear: Taktsang Lotsawa Sherab Rinchen said: "Emptiness truly established Other-empty Madhyamaka, Denying appearances Appearance-eliminating Madhyamaka, Measuring with terms Reasoning-established Madhyamaka, Two emptinesses truly established Mind-only Madhyamaka, These four rely on seemingly valid reasons, Claiming to be Madhyamaka and widely proclaiming, But because they are tainted by conceptualization, they reside within the extreme of existence. Because they desire the true establishment of both beginning and end, And because the second abandons all means of skillful methods, And because the third examines falsehood and non-deception on a common basis, Therefore, speaking after examination is of contradictory nature." As it appears, the first view is the assertion of the Jonangpas. If that is the case, if emptiness exists as truly established, then what is not empty? On all dharmas, even if one practices emptiness as an antidote to the mistaken grasping of objects, emptiness itself becomes truly established, so it will not become an antidote to abandoning real dharmas. Therefore, striving for that becomes meaningless. The second view is the common assertion of most of those who claim to be Mahamudra, Dzogchen, Shije, and Chö practitioners of both earlier and later Tibet. If that is the case, when realizing profound emptiness, all conventional dharmas are forcibly ceased, and by that alone, one is liberated from samsara, so there is no need to accumulate merit and purify obscurations for liberation. For that very reason, one abandons the two accumulations, which are the cause of great enlightenment, and therefore one becomes distant from the state of omniscient wisdom. The third view is the assertion of the Gelugpas. If that is the case, if the conventional truth of terms is analyzed by reasoning and established by valid cognition, then since its own essence has not become empty of itself, even if one realizes emptiness as another unrelated dharma that appears to be truly established by nature, other than the real dharmas of convention, it will not prevent the delusion of grasping at the reality of conventional truth, which is practiced with self-grasping. Even if the emptiness you assert is realized, the conventional samsaric things

Since it will not transcend the sorrow and suffering of the world, your views and meditations, even if diligently practiced for the sake of great Bodhi, are like churning butter in water. The third is, relying on the false treatises of Cittamātra, it is the view of the later Zilong Shakya Chokchen. If that is the case, even if all dharmas such as form are determined to be emptiness, the consciousness of the two graspers still does not become empty, but remains as truly existent, and if it is regarded as truly existent, then attachment to characteristics cannot be reversed. Because the minds of sentient beings, with clear awareness, grasp the real dharmas that are empty of grasper and grasped as the characteristics of permanence and truth. If this view and meditation cannot even transcend the suffering and sorrow of samsara, how can one attain the state of omniscience? Such a fourth view and meditation on emptiness, for those who desire to attain the state of great Bodhi, will become a great cliff that hinders their progress on the paths and bhumis, becoming a straying into error. Therefore, without being influenced by these bad obstacles, one should strive to practice Mahāmudrā yoga, avoiding the straying into error of wrong views and meditations. 64
