Lord of compassion of all Buddhas. Lord of compassion of all Buddhas. Lord of compassion of all Buddhas, blazing with the glory of power and ability, I bow to the Secret Lord Vajradhara, inseparable from Jigme Lingpa. Furthermore, it is crucial for any yogi to suppress oath-bound spirits before engaging in generation and completion stage meditation, recitation, and so forth. Why? Because in previous existences, even if one received empowerment in the great mandala of secret mantra properly, due to breaches and faults in vows, one would be born in evil realms. Moreover, in many past lives, yogis have been unable to attain accomplishment, which has become a great obstacle. Therefore, the method of suppressing them is crucial. The detailed methods of suppressing spirits are explained in other texts. For the sake of ease of practice and application, it can be done as follows: First, one should precede with the ritual of one's chosen deity, either peaceful or wrathful, and complete the approach, accomplishment, and offering of torma. When the time comes, on poisonous paper, draw the effigy of the oath-bound spirit in the usual manner, with a human body and a bird's head, its hands and feet bound by iron chains, etc. At the heart of the effigy, write: ཡ་མ་དཾ་སྲི་གམ་པ་རི་མ་ར་ཡ་ཛཿ（藏文）雅玛当 瑟日 嘎姆巴日 玛ra雅 匝（梵文罗马拟音） (Yamadang, Seri, Gambari, Maraya, Ja) (Literal Chinese meaning: Yamadang, Seri, Gambari, Maraya, Ja). Then, fold the effigy into a roll and place it in a pit dug in the ground, sprinkle it with blood and poisonous water, and offer golden libation. Visualize oneself as the chosen deity, and in front of oneself, a pit that is red and black, terrifying, of various colors, and deep, reaching into the realm of Yama. In the center of that pit, there is the harmful oath-bound spirit, the flesh-eating demon, the evil spirit that obstructs Dharma and politics, the demon that steals accomplishments, and that is inseparable from the effigy in front of you. Visualize oneself as the chosen deity, and emanate four mudra goddesses from the heart. Compel the harmful enemies, obstructors, demons, and the vicious oath-bound spirits to be involuntarily summoned and absorbed into the effigy in front of you. Thinking in this way, perform the summoning: Homage to the Three Jewels, the Three Roots, and the assembly of oath-bound ones, especially the yidam Kagye Eight Herukas, the Mind Accomplishment Phurba, Guru Peaceful and Wrathful, Dakinis, Pig-Faced Wrathful Mother, Lion-Faced Dakini, and so forth, as well as the Dharma protectors Mahakala, Palden Lhamo, the Brother-Sister Protectors, etc., male lineage protectors, female lineage protectors, messengers, emanations, and re-emanations, by the truth of the words of all the Buddhas and the unchanging truth of Dharma nature.
