Chapter Two. Chapter Two. Existence, both stable and changing, refers to the outer world of objects and the inner world of sentient beings. The formation of these two requires twenty intermediate kalpas. Human lifespan gradually decreases from immeasurable years to ten years, and then gradually increases again. It is said that when the lifespan reaches eighty thousand years, the Buddha Maitreya will appear in the world. Similarly, the lifespan decreases to ten years, and eighteen such increases and decreases constitute eighteen intermediate kalpas. After these eighteen kalpas, when the lifespan increases to immeasurable years, it is said that a Buddha named 'Desire' will appear in the world, whose lifespan, teachings, and activities for the benefit of beings will be equal to those of a thousand Buddhas. In short, the period before the eighteen intermediate kalpas, when the lifespan decreases from immeasurable years to ten years, is called the 'Former Long Period,' and the period after the eighteen intermediate kalpas, when the lifespan again decreases from immeasurable years to ten years, is called the 'Latter Long Period.' The two long periods combined with the eighteen intermediate kalpas are called twenty intermediate kalpas. Thus, each of the four phases—formation, duration, destruction, and emptiness—lasts for twenty intermediate kalpas, and eighty intermediate kalpas constitute one great kalpa. Although essentially time is measured by kalpas, there is a flaw in the naming because it is based on the kalpa of destruction. To correct this, there is the saying 'seven suns and one water,' meaning that in addition to the current sun, six other suns will appear in succession, or that this single sun has the heat of seven suns. In any case, the great fire wheel of the sun, with unbearable heat, burns all the substances formed from earth and water in this world, leaving no residue, not even the size of a sesame seed. Immediately afterwards, the great water wheels above and below churn violently, eliminating the ashes and other remnants of the fire, as salt dissolves in water. Then, the wind vajra cross rises from below and agitates, disintegrating the remaining elements into minute particles, transforming the world into a state of empty space. Thus, in general, the impermanence of the outer world of objects and the inner world of sentient beings is briefly explained. In particular, the four guides known as the teachers of gods and humans.

Shakyamuni Buddha and the other two thousand Buddhas of this fortunate eon, although they have attained the vajra body that has exhausted all faults and perfected all virtues, in order to refute the view of permanence, they show the appearance of nirvana, which is to show impermanence, so the service of being free from destruction is also gradually relaxed, and in the realm of peace, that is, in the pure lands of the enjoyment body and the dharma body, they dwell showing the manifestation of joy. The so-called "after the accomplishment of meditation" also means that the seventeen places of the form realm are born from the fruits of the first dhyana, the second dhyana, the third dhyana, and the fourth dhyana, as well as the five pure abodes, so there are many who live for as long as eighty thousand kalpas. Although they obtain the heavy responsibility of sustaining life at that time, when the cause of being born in that place is exhausted, the good fruit also becomes meaningless, and they die separately, seeing this situation. Other gods such as Brahma, Indra, Good Birth, and the Wheel-Turning King, although they do not have the endurance of suffering, they do not think of escaping from the clutches of the Lord of Death, and they have to die helplessly. Especially human beings, like the medicinal herb garden of the heavenly realm, where medicinal trees and flowers are everywhere, and the scenery is pleasant, and herds of wild animals live happily, the lives of dense beings are also ruthlessly taken away, and they repeatedly think in their hearts that the hunter who is waiting for an opportunity, holding a stick, is the messenger of Yama, and thinks of nothing other than the initial pursuit. And so on. Like black and white things, when the local warm early summer is hot, and they feel intense pain, beings like the bright light of the autumn moon. To yearn for this is a foolish act. They do not know that the passage of days and nights is the fault of their own life being exhausted. They do not have the slightest fear in their hearts for such a situation, this is truly the manifestation of a fool. Even if the arrow is swift in what is done by the labor of human hands, the hungry ghosts and drowning places that walk on the ground are faster than this, the beings that walk in the sky are faster than this, the sun, moon, stars, and gods are faster than this, and the passing of human life is faster than all of this. It is said. Even people who are in their prime are afflicted by the punishment of old age, as well as wind and bile.
