The Treasure Trove of Blessings from the Sage (This sentence is in Sanskrit and will not be translated) Homage to Guru Shakyamuni! As stated in the Samadhiraja Sutra: 'Whether walking, standing, sitting, or sleeping, whoever remembers the Sage, the Teacher always abides before them, and they quickly escape all suffering.' Furthermore, as the sutra says: 'The body is like gold, possessing radiance, the Protector of the world is supremely adorned, whoever's mind enters this state, that Bodhisattva is in Samadhi.' Thus, we should practice the yoga of remembering the incomparable Teacher, Shakya the Sage, in the following order: First, take refuge and generate the mind of enlightenment (sangs rgyas chos tshogs sogs skyabs sems), and cultivate the four immeasurables. In the state of remembering the meaning that all phenomena appear but are without inherent existence, Ah! Unborn emptiness and dependent arising, the appearance is unceasing, the union is like an illusion. In the space before oneself, on a vast jeweled throne, upon a lotus, sun, and moon cushion. The incomparable Teacher, Shakya Lion, with a golden body, possessing excellent marks and signs, wearing the three Dharma robes, sitting in the vajra posture. The right hand makes the earth-touching mudra, the left hand in the meditation mudra, holding an nectar-filled bowl. Like a golden mountain, radiant and glorious, the net of wisdom light pervades the sky. The eight close disciples, the sixteen Arhats, and so on, surrounded by a vast assembly of noble ones. Merely remembering liberates from the two extremes of samsara and nirvana, bestowing the auspiciousness of supreme bliss, visualize in front of the great essence of the embodiment of all refuges. Thus, when visualizing the body of the Buddha, generate the thought that he is actually abiding in front. Because the wisdom body of the Buddhas has no near or far in any place or time, therefore, wherever one visualizes, he certainly abides there. As the sutra says: 'Whoever remembers the Buddha, the Buddha abides before them, constantly blessing them, liberating them from all sins.' Accumulating merit before that Victorious One is an inexhaustible source of virtue, never diminishing. As the Avatamsaka Sutra says: 'Hearing, seeing, and offering to the Buddhas, immeasurable accumulations of merit increase.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Furthermore, once all the sufferings of the cycle of afflictions are abandoned, then within this conditioned existence, it will not end in the intermediate state. Just as the aspirations made in front of the Buddha are fulfilled accordingly. As it is said in 'The Qualities of the Pure Land of Manjushri': 'All phenomena are dependent on conditions, abiding at the peak of aspiration. Whatever aspiration is made, one will obtain such a result.' One should generate firm conviction in these principles. With great compassion, holding onto the degenerate land of strife, I made five hundred great aspirations. In order to hear the name praised like a white lotus, I will not turn back. I prostrate to the compassionate teacher. Visualizing the accumulation of merit and enjoyment of myself and others' three doors as Samantabhadra's offering clouds, I offer them. All the sins and downfalls accumulated since beginningless time, I confess each and every one from the bottom of my heart with intense regret. I rejoice in the virtues of the noble ones and ordinary beings accumulated in the three times. I pray that the profound and vast Dharma wheel may be turned continuously in the ten directions. You, the wisdom body like the sky, although you abide unchanging in the three times, you show the manner of birth and death to the perception of those to be tamed, may your emanation body always appear. May I, through the accumulation of merit in the three times, for the benefit of all beings pervading the sky, always please the Dharma King and attain the state of Dharma Lord, the Victorious One. We helpless beings of the degenerate age, through the kindness of being especially held by your compassion, whatever appearances of the precious Three Jewels there are in this field and time, are all your activities. Therefore, I pray to you from the bottom of my heart with unwavering faith and devotion, as the sole, incomparable refuge, may you not forget your great vows of the past, and may you joyfully hold us with compassion until enlightenment. Thus, with strong faith, focusing single-mindedly on the image of the Buddha as if the Buddha himself were present. I prostrate to the Teacher, the Master, the Bhagavan, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Complete Buddha, the glorious Victorious Shakyamuni Buddha! I offer! I take refuge! Recite as much as possible. To inspire the mindstream of the Buddha, recite the dharani from the concise version of the Prajnaparamita: 'Tadyatha, Om Muni Muni Maha Munaye Svaha.' Thus, Om, Muni, Muni, Great Muni, Svaha.) Recite as much as possible, as well as the part starting from Om. While reciting these, remember the qualities of the Teacher, and with a devoted heart, focus single-mindedly on the clear appearance of the image of the Buddha. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
