May the retinues and the Guru be undifferentiated. In this realm, the Lord of the Victorious Ones, Gar of the Kagyu (Kagyu, one of the main schools of Tibetan Buddhism), the compassionate protector Tai Situ (Tai Situ Rinpoche, a reincarnation lineage in Tibetan Buddhism), the secret lord Vajradhara Gyaltsap Gongma (Gyaltsap Rinpoche, a reincarnation lineage in Tibetan Buddhism), to symbolize that all the omniscient Gyalwang (Gyalwang, Victorious One) are inseparable from the Guru's three secrets and activities, the red hat with golden luster, which liberates upon sight, is bound on their heads. These princes are now enthroned as the great wheel-turners of the Gyalwang's own activities, widely known in the world today. Therefore, the red and black hats have the same shape, symbolizing that there is no difference between the father and sons in terms of view and qualities. The slight differences in color and design symbolize that they each skillfully manage their activities. Therefore, whether one sees the red or black hat, there is no difference in the benefit of the four liberations. In particular, when the omniscient Tai Situ resides in the Tushita heaven (Tibetan: དགའ་ལྡན།, Sanskrit Devanagari: तुषित, Sanskrit Romanization: Tuṣita, Chinese literal meaning: Joyful), appearing as the form of Maitreya, the crown adorned with a precious stupa, merely seeing or remembering it purifies the two obscurations and generates the samadhi of great compassion in the mind. When he appears as Guru Padmasambhava in the great palace of lotus light, he always takes the lotus hat (symbolizing Padmasambhava), which represents the lord of the family, Amitabha, as a symbol of power, subduing all appearances and existence, effortlessly bestowing the blessings of the four empowerments. When he lights the lamp of the practice lineage's teachings in the land of Tibet, he transforms the aforementioned crown into the form of a red hat with golden luster, and widely performs the activities of the four liberations. Just as the Chakravartin (Sanskrit: Cakravartin) rules the four continents with a golden wheel connected to a thousand spokes, seeing these precious liberation hats worn by the Gyalwang father and sons brings special benefits. This is the specialty of their aspiration and activities. The great accomplished Karma Pakshi (Karma Pakshi, the first Karmapa) said: 'The hat is connected to the person, whoever sees it is free from the lower realms.' Therefore, all beings who see and hear the precious liberation hat will plant the seed of liberation and obtain the fruit of happiness in the present. Therefore, I hope that all of you present here, regardless of your status, will keep this in mind. On this occasion of having the opportunity to see the precious liberation hat, like placing a wish-fulfilling jewel on the top of a victory banner, in order to increase the accumulation of merit and wisdom, please each commit to a virtuous deed according to your ability and wealth.
