Collection of Instructions by Ju Mipham MP128 Foot-and-Mouth Disease 7-26-1a Foot-and-Mouth Disease In these degenerate times, when livestock are afflicted by outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease due to the influence of the Eight Classes of beings (Tibetan: སྡེ་བརྒྱད, Meaning: the eight types of non-human beings including gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas), especially female demons, it is extremely profound to practice a profound Döma (Tibetan: མདོས, Meaning: a ritual offering) method such as this. Specifically, one should prepare a Döma surrounded by the Black Mother (Tibetan: མ་མོ་ནག་མོ, Meaning: a wrathful female deity) and three women, along with ransom offerings (Tibetan: བཤོས་བུ, Meaning: food or items offered in sacrifice), livestock effigies (Tibetan: ཕྱུགས་གླུད, Meaning: substitute offerings for livestock), arrow banners (Tibetan: ནམ་རྒྱང, Meaning: decorative arrows), and arrow divination charts (Tibetan: མདའ་འཕང་རིས, Meaning: charts used for divination with arrows), arranging them properly. Then, with the pride of oneself as the deity, bless the offerings, reciting: 'ཀྱཻ། སངས་རྒྱས་རྐང་གཉིས་གཙོ་སྟེ་བདེན་པའི་མཆོག །' (Prayer) and so on, inviting the guests of the Döma. Offer precious ransom offerings and the five desirable qualities (Tibetan: འདོད་པའི་ཡོན་ཏན་ལྔ, Meaning: the five sense objects: sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch), transforming them into an inexhaustible treasury of space. With this, bring unpolluted benefit and happiness, repaying the debts of beginningless samsara, clearing karmic obscurations, especially targeting those self-righteous female demons who plunder white livestock, and those demons, flesh-eating ghosts, wandering spirits, and goblins who manifest as humans and feed on names. With this, repay the debts accumulated in beginningless samsara, generating immeasurable joy and loving-kindness. According to the instructions of Padmasambhava (Tibetan: པད་འབྱུང, Meaning: the founder of Tibetan Buddhism) and Vairochana (Tibetan: བཻ་རོ་ཙཱ་ན, Meaning: one of the Five Dhyani Buddhas, representing the Dharmadhatu wisdom), may the demons here cause no harm and return to their respective abodes. (Prayer) Even the one being killed, the one killing, and the act of killing, ultimately leading to the cessation of life, are all unreal, like illusions and dreams. In ultimate truth (Tibetan: བདེན་པ, Meaning: the Buddhist concept describing the true nature of reality), everything is empty, free from elaboration, the realm of Dharma (Tibetan: ཆོས་ཀྱི་དབྱིངས, Meaning: the essence or source of all phenomena). (Prayer) Even the one being stolen from, the one stealing, and the act of stealing, ultimately leading to the acquisition of the stolen goods, are all unreal, in ultimate truth, everything is empty. (Prayer) Even the one being harmed, the one harming, and the act of harming, ultimately leading to the experience of pain, are all unreal, in ultimate truth, everything is empty. (Prayer) Therefore, whether it is samsara or nirvana, the mind that clings to the duality of subject and object is unreal, in ultimate truth, everything is empty. (Prayer) Although the nature of reality (Tibetan: དབྱིངས, Meaning: the ultimate essence of all phenomena) never changes, anything is possible due to the power of conceptual thought (Tibetan: རྣམ་རྟོག, Meaning: a mental activity involving discrimination and conceptualization) and awareness (Tibetan: རིག་པ, Meaning: a clear and conscious cognitive ability). In this age when the impossible becomes possible, the teachings of the true Victor, Shakyamuni Buddha (Tibetan: ཤཱཀྱ, Meaning: the founder of Buddhism), will flourish. (Prayer) Among all teachings, the most supreme are the teachings of the Vidyadharas (Tibetan: རིག་འཛིན, Meaning: those who have realized the truth and possess supernatural powers). The Victor Vajra Garland of Skulls (Tibetan: རྡོ་རྗེ་ཐོད་ཕྲེང, Meaning: another name for Padmasambhava) displays miraculous powers, kindling the lamp of the blissful teachings of Mount Kailash (Tibetan: གངས་ཆེན, Meaning: Mount Kailash), the suns of the wise and accomplished ones of India and Tibet rise. Among them, the most outstanding is the translator Vairochana (Tibetan: རྣམ་སྣང་ལོ་ཙ, Meaning: a famous translator in Tibetan Buddhist history). (Prayer) The Vidyadhara of Oddiyana (Tibetan: ཨོ་རྒྱན, Meaning: the birthplace of Padmasambhava) and his lineage, with loving-kindness as their guide, equally place all beings on the powerful boat. At that time, all the gods and demons of appearance and existence are bound by oath, proclaiming the truth of the stainless Dharmadhatu, and the infallible law of dependent origination. O demoness who wanders in the world, you who roam in all places, plundering livestock... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
