A Small Text on the Oral Instructions on View. A Small Text on the Oral Instructions on View. A Small Text on the Oral Instructions on View. Finished. Namo Guru Manjughoshaya. Here, all the characteristics and causal collections of calm abiding and insight, and the stages of their manifestation, should be understood in the stages of the path to enlightenment. Here, at those times, the oral instructions of Meyri Rung will be written. Also, during calm abiding and insight, dullness and agitation, taming them is extremely important. The way to forcefully eliminate dullness and agitation is: if dullness and agitation are weak and occur only once in a while, then eliminate them by pointing out mindfulness and awareness, as if they occur at other times. If dullness and agitation are strong and occur repeatedly, then like this, when the wind of dullness occurs repeatedly, mix your own mind and space, clarity and emptiness, inseparably and hold them, then the mind will not be clear and pure, and will remain in the object as desired. For agitation, practice wind yoga, holding the wind inside, the mind will also remain. Wood, the discriminating awareness of clarity and turbidity will come well. Oral instructions on forcefully cutting off dullness and agitation. The object on which to place the mind, and the way to place the mind on the object, and the way experience arises from meditating on the object, and the differences and characteristics of gross and subtle dullness and agitation, should be known. In insight, the way the measure of what is to be purified first appears is: first, look at how the coemergent mind appears slightly. Once that is certain, look at how the mind that thinks "just like that" appears. Once the way it appears is certain, look at how the mind that thinks "I" grasps the I. On that, you must also rely on the antidotes to the two ways of appearing that appeared earlier, in sequence. The way to look, after not losing the mind that thinks "Lang-o," you must point out other minds from the side with words. When you look like that, first, there are two: the aggregates appear and do not appear. For those that appear, there is also the appearance of the I as if it dwells in the center of the aggregates, and the non-appearance of anything other than the aggregates, and for those that do not appear, there is also the appearance of emptiness as if it were nothing at all, and the appearance of the aspects of color and form, which is not a pure way of appearing. Therefore, for this coemergent mind, there is also the appearance of something that appears clearly from its own side, as if it does not rely on any object. That, whether it is combined with something that is straight and stiff, or swollen, or whose power has waned, or is dim, will also appear as a similar appearance. That appearance is also subtle because it is short-lived.

It does not arise from that. That mind, appears as if remembering something that has already been established from before. In that way of appearing, there also arises the two ways of appearing, both as one and as other than the aggregates. For example, saying "I am in pain" or "My hand hurts," and so on. Like saying, "The innate appearance does not abandon itself and acts on its own," that is clinging to self. The mind that thinks "I am" is all those thoughts like "I am going to die." After such a way of appearing arises, if it is established in that way, one should contemplate the way in which it cannot be either one or other than the aggregates, and the way in which both one and other have faults. Having contemplated, if one is certain that the appearance of "I" is not like that, then continuously cultivating a clear and distinct ascertainment without interruption is the essential point of cultivation. At that time, one does not newly establish an object to be negated and then think that it does not exist like that, but rather, one first establishes the object to be negated, and then, having generated a clear ascertainment that it does not exist like that, one focuses single-pointedly on that non-affirming negation. For that, there are four key points: first, the key point of the basis of the object to be negated; second, the key point of ascertaining pervasiveness; third, ascertaining the first aspect of the property of the subject; fourth, ascertaining the later aspect of the property of the subject. There are four valid cognitions: the valid cognition that ascertains the way the object to be negated appears; the valid cognition that ascertains whether it is one or other; the valid cognition that ascertains that it is not established as one; the valid cognition that ascertains that it is not established as other. Extracting the essence from that is extracting the essence by being skilled in the two ways of cultivation, calm abiding and insight. Eliminating obstacles is eliminating the initial valid cognition of the sickness of nihilism and eternalism, and the fear of the doubt of the annihilation of self, which is the subsequent attainment. One is able to eliminate this faultless appearance. If one meditates on emptiness as annihilation, it is like meditating on the extreme of permanence of true existence, mixing the mind with it and meditating on it as non-dual. The way my mind appears is: the way my dry mind appears. When I think of my shoes, something appears that seems to be completely separate from that mind. If it is established like the heart, then it must be established as either one or other than the eyes, ears, and so on. If it is established as one, then it will become one that is completely without otherness, so the eye consciousness will also hear sounds, and the ear will also see forms. If it is established as other, then the mind that thinks "mine" itself has the ability to offer and act completely, and my minds are not the creators of happiness.
