The Refuge Vow Ritual - High Increasing Auspicious Vine. The Refuge Vow Ritual - High Increasing Auspicious Vine. This is the ritual called The Refuge Vow Ritual - High Increasing Auspicious Vine. Homage to the All-Knowing One! Here, if you want to bestow the refuge vow, which is the basis of all qualities, then in a clean place, arrange the supports of the Three Jewels and excellent offerings. The petitioner first prostrates to the supports, and then prostrates three times to the lama in turn. Kneel on the right knee and sit with palms together. Adjust your mind as follows: You are fortunate to have obtained such a rare and precious human body with leisure and endowments. At this time when most of the favorable conditions are complete, the origination of the other four favorable conditions can only be accomplished by taking refuge in the Three Jewels. The basis of all qualities, especially the study of discipline, can only be obtained by first taking refuge in the Three Jewels, otherwise it cannot be mastered. Therefore, one should cherish refuge as if it were the foundation stone of the path. Such a refuge vow, if obtained from a virtuous spiritual friend, will give rise to shame that considers one's own face, and embarrassment that relies on the face of others, etc., so it is important to avoid acting arbitrarily and to take the refuge vow. If you think from the perspective of benefits, then the wisdom and strength of a person will also obtain merits in three stages. Even a person who has entered the path of a sect, by simply taking refuge in the Three Jewels, can be liberated from the fears of temporary suffering such as the three lower realms, the bardo, water and fire, wild animals, the punishment of the king, diseases and demons. Therefore, if this refuge had a form, then the sky would seem small. The vast ocean is a treasure of water, and it will not be exhausted by taking it with a spoon. Thus, many merits are proclaimed. Such protection is also due to the Three Jewels having immeasurable merits. When remembering the Three Jewels, such as the Bhagavan, the Tathagata, the Arhat, etc. Recite the words of remembering the Three Jewels, and briefly explain their meaning, as well as the treatises and commentaries of the saints. As the Letter to a Friend says: Liberation depends on oneself, others cannot help. Those who possess hearing, discipline, and meditation can see the Four Noble Truths.

Strive for that. Constantly train in higher discipline, higher wisdom, and higher mind. Even more than one hundred and fifty trainings are fully contained within these three. As it is said. Liberation is not dependent on the instructions of a friend, but rather on one's own sole scriptural authority, intelligence, reason, that which can withstand examination, the extensive learning that accords with discipline, practice, subduing, falling, and defeat. And with the samadhi that accords with the decisive factor, one should focus on the Four Noble Truths. What are the four? They are the truth of suffering, the truth of origin, the truth of cessation, and the truth of the path. The first is: whatever is the nature of the arising of the five aggregates of appropriation, that is the truth of suffering. The second is: the craving that arises again, accompanied by joyful desire, taking great pleasure in this and that; therefore, suffering arises from this, so it is the origin, that is, it is shown as the cause of suffering. The third is: the complete cessation of that craving itself, and whatever is pacified, that is liberation. The fourth is: the truth of the path that causes the attainment of nirvana, the Noble Eightfold Path, right view is wisdom without outflows. Right livelihood is abandoning the five wrong livelihoods, such as digging. Right effort is initiating diligence. Right mindfulness is not forgetting the object. Right concentration is the four dhyanas. Right speech is the four paths of virtuous action. Right action is the three natures of abandoning the non-virtuous paths of bodily action. Right thought is the absence of harmful thoughts, and the thoughts of renunciation, etc., are various virtuous thoughts. Similarly, higher discipline is whatever is dedicated to nirvana. Higher mind is the four dhyanas, the basis of the noble path. Higher wisdom is that which accords with the decisive factor. Within these three trainings, more than one hundred and fifty trainings are contained, and whatever strives to train in these is called the Noble Sangha. Such a great master, the essence of the ocean of qualities of complete abandonment and realization, the Jewel
